I've purchased Bastion and Mark of the Ninja so far.

What else have you guys purchased?

I'll also take recommendations on good ones to buy :D

I've just discovered Sang Froid - Tales of Werewolves. It's on flash sale right now at $5 and I'd definitely recommend it!

Other than that, I got Antichamber, which I'd also definitely recommend (you should probably wait to see if it goes on flash sale or daily deal before buying it full price).

Don't Starve is worth picking up. I wait till the last days of the sale to really do any shopping. They usually have everything back on sale.

I had Gunpoint gifted to me and I've bought Dust, Penny Arcade 4, Dungeons of Dredmor and DLC, They Bleed Pixels, and Endless Space Emperor Edition. All very good from what I've played (have not started Penny Arcade yet, still need to finish 3 actually).

I've purchased Bastion and Mark of the Ninja so far.

Two of the best games available. Even when including games that aren't indies.

Gunpoint.

Mark of the Ninja and Bastion are my two favorite indie games this gen so I'm glad people are getting into them with those low prices.

I bought more indies off of GoG- Strike Suit Zero, Dyad, Fez and repurchased a DRM free copy of Hotline Miami.

I picked up Bastion, Super Meat Boy, Legend of Grimrock, and Trine 1 & 2. I've played a little bit of each and all feel like they will be a lot of fun. I'm spending most of my game time on the Civ 5 expansion now though.

  • Don't Starve
  • Dust: An Elysian Tail
  • Magicka
  • Dungeon Defenders
  • Sanctum 2
  • Terraria
  • Cube World (not steam)
  • Chivalry: Medieval Warfare
  • Natural Selection 2
  • Sniper Elite: Nazi Zombie Army (relatively indie, :P)

And a little something extra:

  • System Shock 2 (I wanted to replay it with texture mods)

I'm very pleased with this haul of indie games.  I've only purchased indie games this steam sale and they are all very good to great games.

I did Waking Mars this sale.  Pretty cool game!

BTW Mark/Ninja, and Bastion are my 2 favorite Indie games so far.

The devs of Mark/Ninja are working on a turn-based tactical espionage game. (kinda like the new XCOM, or Shadowrun Returns) Looking forward to that. Its called Incognita.

The devs of Bastion are working on a new game cyberpunk looking game. For some reason I am not able to activate the synapses to the memory neurons that stores the name of the game in my brain at the moment, so apologies for that, but I bet someone will mention it, gently remind me.

The Walking Dead. I already owned Episode 1-5 on the PS3, but I always wanted it on PC as well. Well during the sale I saw 400 days and had to have it. So I bought episode 1-5+400 days. I also bought Deadlight, Botanicula, To The Moon, and Overlord: Raising Hell. I have a lot of indie games though.

I also bought the Giana Sisters game, as I think it looks well worth the $2.99. As far as Indie games during the actual "Summer Sale", well, if it counts as Indie, I got Infestation: Survivor Stories (War Z) for less than $4.00, but I haven't played it yet. After I bought it, I realized the Metacritic score is really bad, but I'll decide for myself whether it's worth playing.

Today I got Trine 1 and 2 for only $3.75 pretty good deal. I was excited to see those Ys games on sale but it did not seem like to great of one so I got Trine. Steam knows how to keep the sales rolling even after a big sale.

Really nice soundtrack and the art is so pretty.

Listen to that soundtrack, so nice

I don't understand the term Indie Game, honestly. Does it make even a lick of difference if a game is independently published or published by a major corporation? Aside from the fact that the graphics and gameplay are generally consdiered bad or well below the average for indie games, that's not exactly a selling point. I don't really care how a game is published, all I want to know is if it's fun or not, does it look and feel amateur, is it overpriced? And to be honest, a lot of indie games are not fun, they look like shit and they are overpriced as Hell.

Almost every amazing game was made independently or by a small team, whether under the employ of a company or as a hobby. It isn't until the game becomes very popular that the developers start their own corporation to develop games. Indie developers are typically less competent than the geniuses that built this industry from the beginning.

Well they got to start somewhere as the "Geniuses" in the industry at one point will retire, it probably looks better if the next batch of people who enter the industry not only have the theory to show but can also present some of their work as a Indie Developer so to get a position within the larger and well known developer companies that are backed by a publisher. Sort of a " This is what I know and this is what I've made so far" to present aswell as who they are and how they can contribute and benefit in the workplace. That they earn some money off their games isn't too bad either.

I pretty much agree with this. Most indie games out there just seem extremely lazy. And lots use retro look to use nostalgia as a selling point. Most are crap.

Then the industry got bought out... ie: Trip Hawkings selling Electronic Arts, same with Lucasfilm and many other "studios." Man, you're just never going to see gaming like it was back in the 80s. I think one problem is that games are too complex now for some small group of genius' to develop. They just require too much leg work. Back in the 80s it was basically a programmer and marketer and maybe an artist or two. You just can't make a game like that of quality that is relative to what the big houses push out.

They Bleed Pixels
Shadowrun Returns (which I guess wasn't technically part of the sale) Rogue Legacy and They Bleed are excellent platformers from what I am seeing! I regret missing the sale price for Dust: An Elysium Tail though, I was watching a vid on it today and it looks pretty incredible too.
