So, when does STALKER:SoC start to get good?

I got this game recently, and i'm using the complete mod. So far the story is quite boring. The gunplay is ridiculously repetitive so far, it doesn't feel like you're firing a real gun. I'm not too far into the game yet, but so far it has been a snooze fest. Does the game get better as you progress further, or is this game just not for me?

If you dont like the weapon damage there is a sub-mod of Stalker SoC complete 2009 which makes bullets far more fatal. FAR more fatal.

I thought STALKER was a pretty good game, although I can TOTALLY understand why someone would not like it.

GEt the complete mod. I only played it with the complete mod and loved it from start to finish. The gunplay felt excellent. Don't know about unmodded though.

So I gave it another chance, it seems to be growing on me. But even with that mod the poster above me recommended (the one that takes less ammo to kill things), it takes three full damn clips to kill some things. It's quite irritating.

Shadow of Chernobyl is one of the most atmospheric games I've ever played. Others have probably mentioned it, but a must is to download the STALKER Complete Mod, which significantly stabilizes the game without altering the core experience.

It doesn't get better. Stalker is crap. I still have no idea why it has such a cult following. The graphics look very dated for something that came out in 2007, it's horribly glitchy and unpolished even with the complete mod, and the translation to english is terrible to the point where it's hard to make much sense of the story. Stalker is a Z - grade bargain bin title, but the way some people talk about it you would swear it's some great AAA game.

I got two of the Stalker games for $9 on Steam and still felt ripped off. A value meal at a fast food place would have been a better investment.

If youre going full auto then probably 70% of those bullets are missing, switch to single fire or fire in bursts and you will kill things very quickly. also like others have said, aim for the head if youre close enough. also if youre using the pistol, you probably need to get closer

The Stalker series is all about struggle, desolation and survival. Scrapping for better armor, ammo and weapons. Foraging for money and artifacts.

Stalker is not a CoD action ADD fest. Quest for adventure, good aim and gear management is a must.

Don't like any of this, the game is not for you.

Set it on the easiest difficulty, get some good weapons, and then it'll almost play like COD.

Stalker a very acquired taste. I was not too fond of it when I first started either, but it grows on you.

Wow. I couldn't imagine if you were trying to play this game without the complete mod what you'd think.

It would seem that this might not be the game for you. I must confess that it took me a couple of attempts to get into the game. But that was because everything about the game is so different from alot of western FPS games.

Anyway, with the 2009 Complete Mod, STALKER SoC is one of the best FPS games I've ever played.

Also it might be beneficial to play the game on Master as it makes the fire-fights much more lethal to you.
