I built my first rig 2 year ago ( i7 920, gtx 275, 850 watts) it still holds herself to all the newer games on decent settings, but i took her out of my room ( mother made) so i m looking to build another one for myself. I have the money and all but i dont see any serious bump in horse power, i mean bulldozer ended up being worse the sandy bridge ( for gaming anyways) ivy bridge will be more than anything an upgrade for laptops and amds next cpus are like what 5 years away? when will you guys upgrade?

Well there's Intel's Haswell in 2013... but I think I'm done with PCs until something interesting happens. Laptops are just so damn powerful today, there's no reason for a full blown rig unless you're REALLY into shooters

lol. Laptops seem powerful at first. Then after about a year and a half when you can't upgrade it anymore they are a pain in the ass.

My rig which has GTX 470 which I purchased last year is already outdated but it still can run games at the highest settings. Sooooo....probably next year most likely the nex gen console is out (only the graphics card though).

I just got a new videocard earlier this year, so I'm thinking that I'll wait for the next XBox before I build a completely new system...

I wanna upgade my motherboard and CPU in the next few months, I have a 940 AMD Quad and an old AM2+ motherboard which is starting to show its age. I also seem to run into a few game problems with this setup which doesnt help that they discontinued drivers years ago for it.

Not untill the next generation of consoles. Most users with a quad core, $150+GPU and decent ram will probably say the same thing (unless your a computer enthusiast/hobbyist).

Consoles are really holding PC standards down big time. As a result im not going to blow $400 for a new CPU/motherboard just because its "new" (lets get real). I don't see why mostgood computers today won't till next gen

Gaming wise im betting nothing comes out more demanding then battlefield 3 next year so unless Ivy is some huge leap and they truely are compatable with current boards i think i wont upgrade for atleast a few years.

Though i do plan to get another 6970 next year for crossfire.

In a few days. I currently have a Q9550 and a 460 1GB. Once Newegg restocks their 2500k I'll buy it and the rest of my parts. I already have my case, HDD, optics drive, case, and my 560 ti 2win.

Ivy Bridge in early 2012. At least I hope. I'm going Intel though and I'll be building another PC most likely. Although one could say I could use some of the components I have now towards the new build.. I just prefer to start from scratch and then I'll use this one as a back up. :) I might swing over the GTX 580, and buy a GTX 460 for the old one just so I could hook it up to the HDTV in the living room.

Whenever I have a reasonable amount of cash. I was planning on the end of this year, but due to the holidays and a recent firearm purchase, that has been posponed. Probably until at least FM2 or haswell.

Hopefully I can make my computer last another 2 years then I'll upgrade. I like to get my moneys worth and have the upgrade be significant. As it is no systems really impress me over what I have.

Might buy a 1090T in a few months... might. Might get a new GPU depending on how the new generation/refreshes do.
However I have been looking at cases. Mine (CM Centurion 5) is old and ugly, considering a Fractal R3 or Arc Midi.

Funny, Living in the UK if I bought a firearm my house would be raided and I would be arrested and jailed for a minimum of 2 years. See the contrast?

Anyway, My next upgrade will be august 2012.

I'm going to pick up another 4GB of RAM once I find somewhere that'll ship Ripjaws X's for free (I'm not paying $10 shipping for $30 worth of RAM) and I might pick up a second 560 Ti if the price is right, but other than that I should be set for at least the next 2 years.

That said there's a downright bizzare rattle intermittently coming from my case (sounds like an early-90's HDD spinning up; I think it's one of my GPU's fans but I really have no idea and no good way to check due to Intel's idiotic H/P series chipset strategy), so depending on how that turns out I could be in the market for some replacement parts real soon.

I'll most likely keep my pc like it is and just build a new one in a few years. I'm very content with my pc and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

That's a good thing right? Surely, you wouldn't want to live here in California where you could walk up to somebody and blow their brains out? Of course, you'll go to prison for life but that's besides my point. :P

Shopping list for 2012 and 2013

1. AMD GCN.

2. Intel Ivy bridge + motherboard + RAM for SliverStone SG07 case. It's like DIY games console with the same mobility as current Xbox 360 or PS3.

Something like this

3. AMD Trinity + Hybrid CrossFire laptop. Depending on wattage and gaming performance over my current laptop. My current laptop is CPU heavy which is pretty pointless for games. It's doesn't deliver true (on the road) mobile gaming compared to AMD Llano based laptops.

If the news about AMD is true, I want to get my hands on a Phenom II X6 1100T (before they're all gone) and replace my core-unlocked AM3 Phenom II X3 720BE.
