Some people said that Half life 2 didnt age well, i beg to differ!

Quite easily actually. I use photobucket www.photobucket.com and upload the pics. When the mouse pointer goes over a pic, it gives you 4 different linking options. Choose Direct link. rightclick in the reply window here and choose insert image then paste the direct link and there you go. There probably more and easier ways, this is mine

Oh and i tried Fake factory, although it made some slight impovements oversome of the grainy textures in some parts of the game, what really turned me of was the fact everyones face was completly different. Alyx vance's face was the only one that was almost like the original half life 2 everyone else jsut looked really weird LOL. I give that dude props for adding som more cinematic elements to the game, however he needs to code the textures better or optimize them because i have no trouble maxing out Source engine games but for some reason his game was a ram hog. I was using 15-20 % cpu power which is fine but like 75% ram usage for taht game, and the loading times were aweful, i have a fairly hefty machine Quad core 9800gtx and 4 gigs of ram. But yes Half lfie 2 still looks awesome.

I think its still a pretty good game despite that its starting to show age. Just like its predocessor i dont think it will ever get old.

Half Life 2 has aged... very, very well.... to the degree where the Episodes have simply been a blatant reuse of Half Life 2's design.

Visually it still looks nice, the Source engine has aged well.

Probably the biggest gripe is the combat against normal combine soldiers; the level design doesn't allow as interesting combat scenarios, in combination woth their a.i. (compared to games like FEAR, Crysis, STALKER)

It is quite confronting that a game well over 5 years old is still comparable in quality to todays shooters.

Half-Life 2 has aged just fine thank you.....you didn't need the links anyhow.

I'm currently downloading the Cinematic Mod. I had no problem with the base game, it looks great. However the frequence of certain character models cuts the immersion slightly. I'll post some screenshots on kozzy's thread at some point.

Half life 2 looked a bit dated even when released compared to FarCry (which has aged much better). Now, vanilla HL2 just looks really terrible, very boxy environments, bad textures, low poly models... etc ... Im not a gfx whore though, the game is still good :D

Anyway, yes HL2 is incredibly good looking, even now.

THe Source engine was never meant to be the cutting edge, it was intended to look good in motion, run on anything, and age well. Halflife 2 imo is a beautiful game and still has some of the cleanest texture work and character modeling in any game imo. With recent upgrades, such as Left 4 Dead 2 and Team Fortress 2, it has shown its versatility in rendering dark gloomy levels to cel-shaded perfection.

Well, look at new games like Stalker: CoP and AvP. HL2 wins.

When comparing these games such as HL 2 and FryCry to the more recient offerings of Crysis and such.....there becomes a very large seperation in terms of graphic quality.....BUT, having said that, if one throws out the highs and lows sort to speak, I then look at a games like HL 2 & FarCry in it's proper perspective which makes me realize that these games (put them on a high-end PC) still look damm good ! .....:)

For me Half-Life 2 hasn't aged at all. It looks and plays better than a lot of recent games.RyuRanVII

I still think it looks pretty good, as well. I doesn't have all the hi-rez textures that newer games have, but the artwork, level design and basic game-play still trump most fps games.

i will say its overrated, but i got halflife 2 about 10 months ago, beat it ep1 and 2 as well, it was a fun game, definately a great game, but still slightly overrated.

i uninstalled it from my pc when i heard there would be no half life 2 episode 3 or half life 3 this year.

hope they come out with half life 3, and i hope its just as wicked as half life 2 was, just a little more upgraded/up-to-date. you know what i mean.

HL2 aged alot better than the rest of the 2004 games like far cry and doom 3.
