Hey guys, I'm thinking about getting either the Orange Box for the PC or InFamous ( for PS3 of course :P).

I played InFamous and loved it, but I'm interstred in Half Life 2 and Portal, so I just have some basic questions, how long will it last? Are there any mods I should look out for? How would you rate the Orange Box from 1 to 10?

Never played Infamous, but I can be certain that any PC gamer should have the OB. With HL2 and expansions it will take about 20+hours I think? Portal is another 2 and TF2 is one of the most popular online games out there. I would put the OB at 10/10. The whole HL2 series and some extras for the price of one game is extraordinary

Well I can get the OB for 25 USD and InFamous for 35 USD so I might just buy bought, but I think I'm going with OB, I just hope Half Life 2 is similar to BioShock. BTW: What is TF2 like, and also are there any mods I should look out for?

The general rule is, if you're contemplating getting The Orange Box, just get it. Everyone should own it, every game is jaw-dropppingly amazing.

Team Fortress 2 is just outstanding. So much content, and it gets updated with more free stuff every few months. You can easily clock up about 40+ hours in this one alone. Never had so much fun with an online game before.

If you get the orange box, using mods aswell it will minimum last for a year, if you get into TF2 it'll last for ages

I thought infamous was ok. I completed it pretty quick. I'm going to have to say go with the Orange Box. It will last you longer, has more games, and just so much you can do with it really.

1) Portal is indeed set in the HL story, which is most notable in Episode 2, if I recall correctly. 2) You do not need to play HL1 to understand HL2. In fact, even if you played HL1, you'll still be confused!

Get the orange box. I give it a 10/10. As iantheone said "HL2 and expansions it will take about 20+hours I think? Portal is another 2". Team Fortress 2 is good forever.

I think I will take the suggestions in this thread and buy Orange Box. I haven't played any PC games in a long time, so this looks like a good, and cheap, way to get back in. thanks!

Portal is extremely short and not very good. HL2+ep are pretty boring games. I haven't played the others, so I'd say go for infamous.

This is the only correct response to your statements.

Half life 2 is not similar to bioshock in any way other than you are first person shooter. Bioshock is better IMO but both are good

Well no, it's not really part of the story is it? Portal mentions Black Mesa, and Episode Two mentions Aperture Science... that's about it. The actual stories have nothing to do with each other. Same universe, not the same story.

There will be an even larger tie-in in Ep. 3. Gordan has to go to the Arctic where the Aperture Science ship the Borealis mysteriously disappeared to after a failed (or successful) experiment with short range point to point teleportation. The Combine are trying to get their hands on this technology and Gordon will have to stop them.

Portal 2 = Half-Life 2: Episode 3? It's a conspiracy!

Trust me, the Orange Box is as good as it gets in terms of bang for your buck. You get a lot of content for a low price whereas with Infamous, yes it's fun but.. once you get bored of it that's it, whereas in the Orange box, if you got bored of Half Life 2, then you could move on to portal or tf2.

Ah, I see. I guess they are both story driven, but less freedom and decisions in Half Life 2, more of a corridor shooter. I still really liked it and it is definitely worth a play

The Orange Box. All of the games are amazing and I could probably play TF2 forever.

And no, that is not a typo.
