If you liked Oblivion, definately get Morrowind - think Oblivion, but with far more content.

They aren't exactly like Oblivion, but the Baldur's Gate, Neverwinter Nights, and Icewind Dale series are all excellent RPG's. Also check out the Fallout series, Planescape: Torment, Arx Fatalis, the Gothic series, and as other people said, Morrowind. I might be missing a few, but those should keep you busy for awhile.

Warning: Combat for Oblivion and Morrowind are not similar...unless you mod Morrowind.

Which in my opinion you'd wanna do anyway, I find Vanilla Morrowind to be.. Boring. Throw in several mods though and we're in business.

This guys got the right idea give Morrowind a miss to be honest you have played Oblivion and buying that game you will only be playing somthing very similar. Of course inless thats what you want? Anyhow i suggest the above titles STRONGLY, although i dont know about Gothic or Arx Fatalis! Another game to consider is the Neverwinter Nights series. The latest one NN2 is a good Single player romp. Other good RPGs are the Final Fantasys dont underestimate the PS2 these games really are amazing. You can also get FF7 and FF8 i think on the PC....

I think this thread is going a little astray (heh, like anyone actually uses that word), the TC wanted games like Oblivion, and many of the games listed here aren't really like Oblivion (they're actually good RPGs, for one thing :P).

If you want to go really oldschool, check out Ultima Underworld (it's probably abandonware right now, which may/may not be legal). UU inspired the Elder Scrolls series, among other games (it also inspired Wolfenstein 3D, System Shock, Thief, Deus Ex and most modern FPS or FPSRPGs).

If you enjoy Oblivion for its freedom and open-world, you may want to try the Ultima games (Ultima VII, for example, has perhaps the deepest in-game world I've ever seen in any RPG - you can interact realistically with just about everything!), the Fallout series (dark, witty post-apocalyptic RPGs with brilliantly chaotic combat), or maybe even Arcanum (Victorian era RPG, with a magic vs. technology theme - it has an awesome tech tree, where you can literally build, say, explosives from stuff you find in street-corner bins),

I hope you know about the upcoming expansion for Oblivion - Doesn't come any closer to Oblivion than that ;) There's also Gothic 3 but it requires a pretty good comp with lots of RAM. 1GB is not enough if you want to play it without hickups.

Mmmh....

Nobody mentioned Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic so im doing that.

SWKotOR Rocks man!!!!!!

its one of the deepest RPGs that i ever played. Of course there's not a huge world like Oblivion (and Morrowind) and the combat sistem is kinda passive in SWKotOR... but it has an awesome story ; i finished it twice and i must say that i enjoyed the second time more (lol the first time i'd choosen the light side of the force) ; and there are alot of minigames and countless sidequests in the game.

Personally when i was playing SWKotOR i had the feeling of watching a film.

Oh... there is a sequel. but its kinda meh compared to the original...(like all sequels developed by Obsidian btw ;) )

A game in development that looks similar to the 'open world' format of ES4: Oblivion is Two Worlds.  It is another fantasy themed RPG, and looks similar to Oblivion in many ways, but hopefully will offer a great deal more depth as the main questline is estimated to be in the region of 40 hours long, besides all the other side quests that will be available.  I'm hoping this game lives up to its potential, and they nail the basic gameplay mechanics (ie, it doesn't turn out to be clunky).
