did anyone watch on the spot? well they played crysis (which BTW they were foaming at the mouth about)...as I understood they were playing a final build of the game, as the game has gone gold, and the level they played was not the one in the demo.

anyway...they were playing at a supposed mix of high and very high settings...at an extreamly smooth framerate....I really am not sure what it was...but it looked like it was well above 30, as even in the fiercest battles...the framerate was still very good.

now for the most surprisng part...they werent even running it on the best card out their...it was being run on a 8800GT.

I just watched on the spot now and came to the forums to see if anyone else had noticed that. It looked smooth as butter.

Yes, but what proccessor/ram/vista were they using? It isn't all about the GPU. But I guess it is good news.

If this makes anyone feel any better, I can max (though without AA) it with a 8800GT also, along with a Q6600 and 3gigs of ram. Unfortunately for some bizarre reason it's very grainy. I hope this isn't due to my hardware, and that they will fix this in the retail version.

A 8800 GT is RIGHT behind the GTX in performance... I am more worried about the 8800 GTS (both 320 and 640 versions) performance for the game..

Cool. I thought there would be larger areas than the demo level, but I guess it turns into close quarters rather quickly.

When Crysis runs like this (at 20-25 FPS) on my rig from 2004 that runs on a CPU that doesn't even meet the minimum requirements (P4 @ 2.667 GHz), I would definitely think Crytek have done their work admirably.

No, I just figured that the only way they would get a performance increase would be less rendering range. I don't get why the "Gold" version would have better performance considering the demo was release only 2 days later. I only see this as propaganda unless theres some hard proof in that article.

They were using an 8800GT, the third best video card currently available on the market. Of course it should run around 30FPS on high settings. If not then crysis is just horribly unoptimized.

YES! omg watching on the spot made me sooo happy! I was about to boycott crysis cuz i thought it would only run on like medium for the comp that i plan on getting (which has an 8800GT and at least a Core 2 Duo, maybe a Quad tho) but after seeing that, i'm getting it for sure!

the beta and the demo only use 1 core on your processor. gamepot have the final version so it sues multiple cores so that must be why they were getting such good performance.

lol it aint a rumour dude. but its a driver thing. i have SLI GTX and with 163.69/163.75 drivers i get worse performance than a single card. with 169.01 and 169.04 beta drivers, the game doesnt run. i get BSOD.

with SLI disabled, i still get pretty low performance. 1680x1050, Very High everything, No AA, i get about 17-21fps. sometimes higher than 21, somtimes lower than 17.

i really hope the final release shows better performance or nvidia get off their arse and fix this with better drivers.

PS. this was running Vista 64-bit, and running both 32-bit and 64-bit versions

The GTS's can be made just as fast or faster than the GT's (the 640's anways) they overclock like a beast, and have more memory bandwidth than the GT's, GT's are only faster than the bone stock not overclocked GTS's

The GT's have more pixel Pipelines.. The GT is a completely different beast it only trails the GTX by alittle in games sucha s Crysis.

That's not true. The demo has both multithreading and 64-bit optimizations.

If you notice the date on the program when you launch the demo is says its a build from october 18th not the 26th or 27th whenever it was released so crytek had a few more weeks before it went gold.
