This will probably be my 7th failed topic today. Guess no one wants to help me.

This is my first build. My motherboard is on, but not without slight sliding of the board across the mounting screws. None of the guides I used warned against that except the stickied one which I didnt look at until about 20 minutes ago. Will that permanantly damage the motherboard?

Next, I can't get my power supply (corsair 620) in the case (Thermaltake Armor). It doesn't go in from the outside or anything so when I put it in from the inside, it slid in, then stopped about half a cenimeter short of the back of the case, so basically I couldn't put the little shield on. Anyone know how to fix this?

Where are all the power connectors on my motherboard (680i)? My rear case fan has 1 tiny 3 pin connector and 2 big plastic ones, and I don't see any of these, nor do I see clearly labeled ones for fans or other stuff.

What do I do if the power led connector is 3 pins but the one one on my motherboard is 2 pins?

Is there some place where someone can do this for me. This is my first build and guides never seem to go into detail on all the connectors and stuff besides "PUT THE WIRES IN UR MOTHERBOARD!!!" So I don't want to break anything and I would rather hire someone to do it. If I broke something (possible, but hopefully not) I will seriosuly cry. Does New Egg replace broken parts (assuming I broke something)?

The Armor and Kandalf are not fun to get the PSUs in. I had to take off both side pannels and bend that bar that supports it down a tad. I used an old rag and just pulled down on it. It bends a tad and gives you some room to slide it onto the track and then you can slide it in to the back.  You may have to be forcible during this.  PSU can handle it

Now if you have it on the rail and its not sliding right to the back where you turn the PSU on and plug it into the wall. Then there is a metal chip somewhere and its blocking the PSU from sliding in

What do you mean the board is sliding around on the mounting holes? Do you not have it screwed in? Im kinda confused here

Which 680i board do you have. eVGA, Asus or Gigabyte?

I have it screwed in, but before it was screwed in and I was adjusting it, I slid it around a little to get in position. The stickied guide said not to, but I'm not sure if it will cause a lot of damage. And I have an eVGA.

"What do I do if the power led connector is 3 pins but the one one on my motherboard is 2 pins?" On the connector coming from the front of the case, you will have to remove one of the metal connectors out of the plastic and slide it into the middle slot in the plastic The fans plug up to your power supply if they have a 4-pin molex hook up, if there is a smaller 3-pin connector with only 1 yellow wire, that is to report the speed of the fan. Now with the PSU problem, do you mean that little bootie like thing that slips on the back of the PSU, if so take that off, I could not slide mine back with that on.

How much did you slide it around, just a little to line up the screw holes is almost unavoidable. As long as you LOWERED it almost exactly into place, you should be fine.

well it should be fine, as long as you were shaking it around and it was going mad in the case. Only way to find out is Screw it in and power it on. Even if, you can RMA it to eVGA or the store you got it from. eVGA is reallly excellent in doing so. Generalkill fired his 8800gtx and 680i board from eVGA with a PSU from Silverstone and they still replaced it. Infact they sent him new stuff before his left his place. When I am home, Ill check on the board, I am on my way home from work now. So Ill let ya know soon.

That's a huge relief to read. I don't know if I did break it and I don't think I did, I'm just a little unsure.

My dad and I have the power supply in and now were connecting all the cables. Can someone go into a little more detail on the power led?

It is not hard to do just a little tedious. First inspect the 3 pin power led wire connector. You should see a little tab on the back side (three in total one for each slot) I used a pocket knife to get under one of the end tabs and lift it up just enough to slide the metal piece out of the plastic. Then just slide it back in the middle and hook it up to the motherboard. Let me know if you need more help with it, I might be willing to take mine off and snap a few pics if needed.

I understand now, I looked and saw that, me and my dad will get it. Now if anyone can help me as to where I hook up my case fans? Do I put them in the power supply? I have these little connectors that go in the back. The fans have 2 big white 4 pin connectors and one tiny 3 pin. I'm pretty sure the 3 pin go into the mobo, but I guess I have to connect adaptors to the PSU.

I did the power led a tiny bit differently. I took a pair of scissors and cut out the middle pin. Then plugged it in normally and it still works fine.

How many wires are with the little 3 pin? If it is just one, then it's only purpose is so you can see the speed of the fan in BIOS (and other programs) You can hook it up if you want, but it is not needed. Also if the 3pin only has one wire then you have to hook the bigger 4 pin (molex connector) to the power supply in order to get power. Ah I just found the fan that came with my case (I replaced my fans with adjustable speed ones). I was correct the 3pin is just to relay the rpm of the to the motherboard, you don't need to hook that up unless you want to. Just make sure you hook the molex plug up, and you should be good to go.

Ok, we now have all power cables hooked up for everything. The only thing not done yet is the power led. Once that's done, I pray it works, then we install windows, and pray that works too.

What is the cpu temp in BIOS. Check to make sure the power switch, power led, reset, HDD LED, hook ups are right. My buddies computer did something similar and it turned out he had put them on completely wrong (don't even know how it would turn on) What are you complete specs?

I'm pretty sure they're in the right slots at least. Do they connectors have to be facing a certain way?

Also, do the connectors on the power supply on the inside of the case give off different amounts of power? Could I have to little power going to the hard drive and too much going to fans or something?
