I'm not sure what it is, but something about Guild wars just isnt apealing to me at all. Don't get me wrong, I'm not the rush addicted constant FPS player. I love games like RoM and WoW. GW was on sale for 5$ so i hastily/impulsivley bought it after hearing all of this hype about GW2 and I have been slightly attracted to this game everytime I casually pass the PC game aisle in Target. But, I'm not sure what it is about this game but, It's just not selling itself to me. Anyone have any guesses why?[that makes me seem like i know why and I want you to guess but really, I'm quite dumbfounded at why this game is so unapealing]

As I see it now the game is on it's last legs. The community is not as strong as it was before (although not bad either). I visited some of the low level mission areas in Tyria and there is barely anyone on to play with. So I'm guessing that's the problem. I'm sure it'll get better once you find yourself a guild and pass through all the newbie mission areas and have more people to play with.

On a side note, guild wars has very little in common with guild wars 2.

As suggested above: it's probably because there's nobody to play with. I also picked it up as it was sort of dying down and experienced the same issue, though maybe to a lesser degree than you are.

Also true..you can't really use Guild Wars to give you an idea of what GW2 is going to be like. There are going to be massive changes to the core of the game..it really won't be structured in a way that at all resembles the original.

the other problem is that if you were expecting something like WOW then you may have been a bit dissapointed. its not like wow. its more of a single player game you play online..either with henchmen or in co-op. thats what i loved about it. the last time i was on the EU servers the population was also definately smaller. i would definately suggest joining a guild. you can finish most of the quests/missions with just henchmen but there are a few difficulty spikes that will catch you out.

When it first came out, it was a lot of fun. About 3 months later, and one fissure armor set.. I was about done with the game. Not that that it's a bad game, it just didn't hold me over long enough. But here's to Guild Wars 2 changing all that.

Might the ridiculous model-looking characters have something to do with it? Or maybe the comparison to WoW?

No it was a decent game back in the day, but its getting on now and i stopped playing ages ago because they never really add on new content.. Plus guild wars 2 is coming out in a while and it looks sick, but im not sure i want to get involved in it, once you realise how time consuming it is..

One thing about Guild Wars that I liked was that I never really felt like I was "left behind." It's one of those MMO's where you could hop in and out and play at your leisure or play diligently. In that sense, it didn't feel time consuming to me. World of Warcraft on the other hand, had the opposite effect.

Lol are you joking? Did you not see how time consuming most of the titles were? How long it took to make money and buy decent weapons/armour sets? Maybe you didnt play long enough. Put it this way, titles like the glad take about a solid 4 months or more of playing pvp just to achieve. Its very time consuming if you want to well in the pvp and even the pve really.

Titles are something to do in your free time, no one is forcing you to do them. The 15k armor and the 1.5k armor have the same stats, the only difference is aesthetics, which again, is optional. Weapons, while are harder to obtain, most aren't at a very expensive price, or bosses can be farmed in order to be obtained.

No, I'm not joking. If I was.. it would have put "jk" or "Just kidding." Heh. I guess after having played World of Warcraft, Guild Wars is nothing in terms of content. I reached endgame in vanilla Guild Wars in less than 3 months and got fissure armor. I pvp'ed enough, but I didn't bother with it much because it was lackluster. I highly doubt you've played WOW. It took me WELL over 4 months to earn Grand Marshal. If anyone knows about that grind, they would probably agree with me.

I wasnt talking about completing the game, i was more mentioning the titles of which some seem almost impossible to get (i.e. the pvp titles like rank 15 hero etc).

If i dont get the most expensive armour/weapons and the best titles, then i will be a mere mortal. it is not optional, i have no choice but to become godlike!

Yes but the titles are largely worthless anyway and just a checkbox to say you did something and none of the weapons skins or armour sets are expensive at all. Sure, some weapons of low reqs etc are worth a lot because they don't drop anymore but they can still be had at a higher req and for next to nothing.

Yeah thats true, but the game is all about how you character looks, its gay really lol, just full of people trying to show off their titles (in pvp that is). When i used 2 play, armour like FOW would take you absolutely ages to get and making gold on the game wasnt easy trust me i played it for 4 years and never really had all that much in terms of gold.

On the back of the box it says "skill, and not just hours played, proves your worth"

I couldnt ever get into it, it depends on the MMO's you like. I cant stand the mobility in it, I like to PVP and always be moving, clicking just ruins that. Also I hate that its all instanced, I wouldnt even consider the game an MMO, more like a Multiplayer RPG with lobbys.

this, but I actually like it the way it is. I dont have enough time for a full fledged mmo these days.
