were conservatives.. we dont enjoy the idea of spending elaborate amounts of money if it can be avoided.. like why pay 1000 bucks for whardware that 900 bucks does just as good.
After about the $1300 mark the price/performance ratio gets stupidly out of wack. And the thing is most people who come here ARE on a budget, usually between $500-800 for the tower.

Depends on my mood. There were times when I assembled a PC for $1800 or more such as when I made the jump to dualcore and PCI-E or AGP before that or PCI before AGP. There's also times when I feel like sticking with a sub-$800 PC like this cycle. Looking at the way things are going, I won't spend over $1k on a PC again until probably a new video slot or some other new significant tech shows up.
