So I am getting a pair of Seinheisser HD 555 headphones for my birthday next week and was thinking about upgrading from my onboard sound to accomadate them. I am looking to spend under $70 on a new soundcard and am running the windows 7 RC. I also have a set of 5.1 Z-5300 logitech speakers that I will be using. Any reccomendations would be greatly appreciated thanks!

With an under 70$ sound card, I'm not sure you'll see a big improvement over onboard sound...If I were you, I'll wait to get more cash and get an Auzenthec sound card (forte 7,1 or prelude 7,1)

In my opinion it's not worth it to buy anything under an X-FI Xtremegamer... and that's running between $80 and $100 depending on where you shop. The Xtreme Audio isn't even a true X-FI (different sound processor), so rule that out. I'd have to recommend saving until you can afford something a little better than $70.

The best price/performance soind card is the X-Fi Xtreme Gamer...its tons better than onboar sounds....but iam not sure if you will notice the difference using headphones.

So you really think a sub $70 card won't be a noticable enough improvement over my onboard sound? I also forgot to mention that I mainly listen to music on this PC and don't care about gaming that much.
