So...why modern games still have blurry low res textures up close?

graphics made some big improvments in the last 10 years with better geometry and characters textures, but enviroments(walls, objects) still look like crap up close and it's really bothers me lol.. (even in games like crysis 2, bf 3 with high end GPU) from far it's look great but if you stand very close to a wall you see it very blurry. why is that, and when do you think it will make an improvment?

Because all the big budget games released now are multiplats and consoles don't have the memory capacity to handle the high-resolution textures.

^Most likely answer.

Although battlefield 3 uses an ass load of memory for textures, yet a lot of them are still blurry as hell.

Consoles are also the reason why we can't have bigger and more detailed open world games. Imagine GTA where you can go inside every building and a first person mode where cars have detailed interiors. (Thank god for mods)

Blame consoles. Developers need to be able to easily put the game on every major platform.
