I have a Logitech 5.1 Surround system on my computer. Up until now, it's been working great, but today, i went ot test the speakers using the Realtek HD Audio Manager, and found that, while the Front Left/Right and Centre speakers all work fine, the sub woofer and rears don't.
When it reaches the sub woofer during the test, it stays quiet, and windows doesn't even show that a sound is being played. When the rears are supposed to play, it's just the front ones playing a very low volume.
The speakers themselves are not broken, since by enabling 'Matrix' mode, i can hear the back ones playing music, and i can always feel the sub woofer. The inputs themselves are all done right, so i'm quite certain this is a software-related problem. I'm running windows vista 64 bit.

I'm assuming you're using a x-Fi card so in the Creative Console launcher, do you have the sound centered under x-Fi CMSS-3d? cause it sounds like you have that bar set towards the bottom (aka rear speakers) rather than in the center (all 5 + sub)

Make sure you have the cables going into the right places. I had the same problem with my X-540 and it was just 2 cables in the wrong places.

MY 780i ran 5.1 out of the box. Try running the configuration again thru your sound menu. Select "High Definition Audio Device" and click the configure button. Do you have the realtek drivers installed, or just use the baseline windows ones?

In the driver program (realtek) you need to set the speaker config to 5.1 surround and if that doesn't work, on the top right you will see the inputs right click on them and set each one according to whats in there, like center/sub, front Left right, Rear surround exe.
