A bit overpriced for what they are. If you want 2.1 i would suggest getting either the logitech z-2300 or the x-230. Both are pretty good and the x-230 is very cheap. http://www.newegg.com/Store/BrandSubCategory.aspx?Brand=1080&SubCategory=60&name=Speakers They are both on that page.

If nobody has already recommended the Creative Inspire P7800 90 Watts 7.1 Speakers...

...I would like to. These sound great when hooked to a decent sound card.

z-5300e's rock if you are going to invest that much :)

But for a 2.1 system, if you are in the price range of $80, it is completely worth it to spend the extra money to get the z-2300, theyre really nice and have a good subwoofer. It's even THX certified, which is kind of ridiculous since it's only 2.1, and THX is supposed to specifically be a surround sound setup for movie viewing... O well. My neighbor has them and they're really nice (not as good as mine though :-D )

Those are decnet, my brother has the x-530, which is the same speaker set, just the x-540's have different ****and a control pod (as well as a clip for the front center speaker.) They are good, and unless you listen to your music loud they will be fine. The bass does distort alot at higher volumes.

And yes, the z-5300e's do rock, however the z-5500's are even better ;-)

I say go for it. They're not bad speakers by any means, unless you are an audiophile.
