Would you recommend this if I've never played a SC game before? Will I be lost story-wise? (I only ask because I saw in a review it had ties to previous games?)

Actually no, you will be not lost story wise because the new one has more story than all the previous. All you need to know about story is in the game. Sam was working for cia, his daughter was killed and now he is gonna rogue trying to find the murder. Thats all. The only character appearing from the previous games is a female cia agent that was in the intelligence departement. No major character attachements here to worry about. Its like a new game. Also i would reccomend it as a the first splinter cell game since its the easiest one with less stealth. Then you can try the older ones.dakan45
Actually Sam Worked for 3rd Echelon, a fictional division of the NSA.
Its a great spot to start if you are new to the series imo.
I have this for xbox though, but im enjoying it a good amount!
Definatly check it out! Fun coop and the singleplayer is fun (though a tad short, but can be done numerous times).kozzy1234
Yeah it looks like it has alot of replayability. Another thing, when i saw the E3 demo, one thought crawled in my mind. That somehow thats all the impressive part and the rest of the levels wont feel as good as the one shown in E3. So is my fear true or all the levels are quite good without getting borring?

I havnt gotten bored yet, the singleplayer campaign is from and coop campaign is fun to.
The levels are nicely done as far as design and fun factor goes. They are set up quite good imo :)
Get it for a console. The PC version requires you to be online while playing (even singleplayer)

It shouldn't be a problem if you have a stable net connection 24/7. If you don't have a stable connection, get it for the 360.
And no, you won't get lost. Just read some of the summaries of the series on Wikipedia or GameFAQs. It should give you a good idea about how the story is.

well Im sure most peoples internet connections are more stable than their xbox 360s :) I say don't buy the game, don't support ubisoft and their rehashes and crazy drm ways.I don't understand why all you people complain about their DRM? You are on the internet right now... I am guessing you are on it whenever your computer is on... I don't get it? Do you yank your ethernet cable out when playing games?
People always say it inconveniences legit players... How so? It is all done in the background, it happens relitively instantly, it uses virtually no bandwidth? How is that an inconvenience?
I often connect my computer to my home theater and would prefer to not need internet to do so.I don't understand why all you people complain about their DRM? You are on the internet right now... because you launch one of the games using the drm and suprisingly it cannot connect to the server...its annoying as hell when it happens. First make this drm stable and then i am fine with it, but not to long ago there was a thread about another user who couldnt play settlers because the servers were down AGAIN!! First make it stable and then we talk about it.I don't understand why all you people complain about their DRM? You are on the internet right now... And when does this happen? I have had AC2 since launch and never had this issue? Even on the day of launch, when you would expect servers to be flooded...
It isn't like a MP game, where there are hundreds of kilobits or even megabits going back and forth between PCs and servers... It is a simple line of code that is only a few kb that just shows their server that you are legit...

Because people like me have unstable net connections due to the stupid maintenance work done by the ISP. I have to call regularly to ask why the net is down. Not everyone is living the American dream :(
Hence the reason why I get Ubi's games now on the 360.

This week's free content will entail a new gun, the MP7A1 Machine Pistol.
You must own Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell Conviction to receive this free content. An internet connection and an Xbox 360 gamertag is required. Select "EXTRAS" from the game's main menu to download free content each week.

If I don't buy the console versions, I'll be seriously limiting my games :( I have only one more month of vacation (with extra classes strewn in) to do some serious gaming before school starts...
