When it was first announced I was very excited to play it. Then they didn't say anything for about 18 months, I lost interest and I'm finding it hard to find it again now that it's been dated. I will probably wait until I've read a few reviews before thinking about getting it, or not as the case may be.
I really hate it when developers announce a game 2 years before it's release, you get all excited about it and then by the time it finally comes out, you've forgotten what it is and why it should be interesting. Same happened to Doom3 and will happen to Rage as well I'd wager.
Have fun
Have you watched that long video of it? Theres A LOAD of stars (hundreds and hundreds) and every one is unique. Each star has a solar system with different kinds of planets. And you can make whatever creature you want and the game will make it work - walk, attack etc.
I kinda-sorta care. The procedural stuff is exciting, and the animations are just awesome looking. But the actual game just doesn't look all that interesting. It looks like a string of either uninteresting or outright tedious minigames...
It may seem strange for me to say this, considering it seems like such an innovative game, but it's the technology backing the game more than the actualy substance that interests me. I'm not the most creative person in the world and the whole idea of making stuff - it appeals to me, but only as a secondary or even tertiary gameplay element. I don't know if I want it to be my focus. Even in the Sim City games, it was the management of my city that appealed to me more than the actual design and creation stuff.
