So I'm trying to login to PlayOnline (Final Fantasy XI) after not having played it since the Vana'diel Collection 2008 came out. I particularly need to get to my POL email. I just tried to contact Square Enix over chat, and guess what? They're asking me for information that I can't access because I can't login! What's worse is that my session ended with "the birth date, address, and phone number are incorrect." and saw me off. I gave 'em my POL ID (which I still have for some reason). That seemed to help... I'm trying to recover my lost password. Anyone know of any help? 'Cause SE isn't any help.

Sad thing is you're totally right Square Enix are evil evil people. I think the one thing we all have to remember is that they really are totally unfamiliar with Online play / security. Bout time they learned that time is time and they have to be reliable when something like this happens..sadly..as of now they arnt. Square has really fallen downhill over the past few years being under new management and releasing crap games.

All you can really do it keep nagging them and try to call them..Square is forign and I hate talking to foringers >_> but if you're ok with it you can nag them over the phone if they have a support line. If they're being stupid then tell them what they're doing wrong. They just mind cut you some slack

I think they're quite the opposite about security...

SE has horrible customer service. I had to go to my local bank and get a notary to sign a paper saying I am who I am and had to mail the papers to SE. Only then did they unlock my account and give me info. Not joking.

And you really know what's funny? I've lived here for quite a while now, and haven't moved. I gave them my mailing address and phone number (none of which were changed since I first registered on PlayOnline) to CS and guess what? They claim they're "incorrect" when in reality it IS correct.

I have a problem, I can't join playonline. I recently bought a second hand FFXI from my local vid store and I can't register for playonline, I keep getting a message saying "you need a square enix account to Create a PlayOnline ID" when I click on join playonline, and when I try to register just at the member list it always comes back with "incorrect playonline ID or password" when I try to link it with my xbox live profile. I cannot find a way to join playonline and even my good buddy google doesn't come up with anything useful. everywhere says to join playonline u select that option in the viewer from the member list screen but when I do I get stonewalled by " you must have a square enix account" and I EFFING DO BUT HOW DO I TELL MY XBOX THAT! I also have added my square enix ID to the member profile I'm trying to create but it makes no difference. I can't log in my playonline ID/password is incorrect and I can't "join playonline" cuz I "need a square enix account" wtf?!?! I'm so frustrated!

I called the number back in 2010 and it was still in service but it was different from the one in the manual, I got it from their website.

Anyway I think the problem is because you bought a second hand copy of the game. I remember back in 2003 my friends friend gave me his pc version since he didnt like it and when I installed it and entered the codes they didnt work. When I emailed SE they were like "since your friend used the codes you can't use them and its against the terms of service"
