So I just bought a 180gb corsair force gt ssd which is really 167gb which I can understand, but the first problem is that it automatically partitioned 100mb aside when I tried to install windows. it froze when "expanding files" and I was forced to restart and this is when I saw the 100mb partitioned which it wouldnt let me format. Is this normal when installing windows? Or is it just somthing that all SSD's (or even HDD's) do? Also, the second issue is that after installing Windows 7 Ultimate, and also a few drivers... I've already seemed to have used 39gb! At least thats what the properties of my c:/drive say... but then when i look at the proproperties of each folder inside the c drive, the biggest folder is only 11.2gb (the windows folder), and the next biggest is only 808mb (programs); anything else is either a few kb or 0kb... So I'm not quite sure where all this space went. Anyone know? I'd appreciate the help. Thanks!

The first problem is you used Windows 7 Ultimate which has way too many features that you most likely won't use. My Windows folder alone is 22GB using Windows 7 professional. system restore will have a cache of files to aid in recovery process so you can safely remove some of them and just keep one. Updates are also stored on your machine even after they are installed and unneeded, try this: http://www.trishtech.com/win7/delete_installed_update_files_from_windows_7.php It's harmless.

Win7 does two things automatically: set aside a 100MB partition for system files and make a "Shadow Volume Copy" (a duplicate of itself) which also contains the restore points.

33GB is a lot though. I usually have around 11GB gone after a clean install of Win7 Ultimate...
