That is quite strange, do you have any more SATA power cables from your PSU, maybe try running them off of two different power cables instead of daisy chaining them?

I just bought an Samsung 840 250 SSD and when I installed it. I can either use the SSD or the HDD but not at the same time. I installed windows on the SSD but I still want to be able to use my HDD.

It wont detect either while the other is being used, even in the BIOS.

I believe it must be something to do with the SATA cables I might be doing something wrong,

There are two Light blue SATA ports side by side. I conneced both the drives to these.

and the power comes from one power cable.

Pls can someone help me

Huh? How is one or the other "being used" before you get to BIOS? What is the make and model of your motherboard?

It's because he has both of them set as a boot drive...
Did you have your HDD plugged in when you installed Windows on the SSD?

Do you have Windows installed on both drives? If so you need to format the HDD in order for it to become usable. That's what I had to do.

That was my case at least. I backed up everything worth saving and transfered it on a external hard-drive. Then did a complete format of the HDD. All with the SSD pluged out so the HDD was the only drive in the PC. Then inserted the SSD and booted from it and the BIOS recongized it but WINDOWS didn't. A quick google search solved the problem but I think it won't happen to you.

What HDD is it?

What do you see in the BIOS Boot menu?
