I am thinking of picking these games up (which connect in story right?), but I am worried they are all going to be VERY similar and it might get boring. Is this the case or no? ALso I did not not that it had a MP mode. Does anyone still play it and how is it?

Story not that great. Just play the first one and third one, and if you really like them, try 2nd.

second is a prequel to the first. third is set after the first with a different protagonist. they arent very similar. there are noticeable differences between each. and the anomaly fetching has more depth in the 3rd one. but you can totally tell that each one is a stalker game. i would recommend you the first and third. also the 2nd game if you get STALKER complete clear sky. makes it more stable and such. the first one has a few great mods as well, like STALKER complete and LURK. they'll change the gameplay dramatically. i have at least 150 hours on the first game alone. the third one has a lot more depth in each area. and side tasks can make a huge difference in the main storyline. lastly. dont bother with multiplayer. SoC was dead when it came out and definitely still is. idk about the others.

Play them all with mods cause unless you are hardcore, vanilla will get boring or irksome.

The first two are pretty similar to eachother, but the second, while running on the same engine, is quite different in terms of structure and missions. In any case, I can assure you you won't get bored with those games even if you play all 3 of them back to back.

And the MP mode is forgettable. It has some nice maps, but due to every server being located in Eastern Europe, the lag alone kills it.

First - Shadow of chernobyl is the best. STALKER - it's reallistic graphic with close to reality storyline. I like it! It's not boring like latest games COD MW2 or Black Ops .

I find Call of Pripyat to be far superior to Shadow of Chernobyl on many levels. But yeah, play Shadow of Chernobyl first, then Call of Pripyat. If you really love those games then get Clear Sky.

Also Pripyat complete should be coming out soon.

Get either the first one+complete mod or the third one ( third one is optimized and even without mods is still amazing ). and if you love them like me pick the 2nd as well ( though not as good as the 1st or 3rd still a great game ) The games atmosphere , gunplay , story and sidemissions will suck you in and imo multiplayer is no needed in Stalker . It will take you 30-50 hours to finish only 1 game ( with all 3 you can get over 100hours easily depending on how many sidemissions you do )
