Which S.T.A.L.K.E.R game did you enjoy the most? I myself have only played through Call of Pripyat, and thought it was ok but the graphics were a major dissapointment even in DX11.

Shadow of Chernobyl is still my absolute favourite. Moreso than the polished Call of Pripyat (I enjoyed it as well). The first STALKER ranks among both Half Life games, Dooms 1 and 2 and Quake as my favourite SP shooters of all time.

I believe it was really bad at one point, even unplayable. Apparently it was fixed tho.

CoP, SoC, and CS in that order. It is REALLY close between SoC and CoP though.

I downloaded the game from Steam, played it and it was unplayable, this was maybe 3 weeks ago I tryed it with my new Video Card. I could max the game easily in DX11 but as soon as I started the game and moved around I would stutter like crazy. If you check "call of Pripyat stuttering" on google you will see 100's of forum threads and topics regarding it.

Oh? This has happened only 3 weeks ago. I'm guessing it has to be on Steams side. The standalone game runs perfect for me.

get the complete mod...graphics improve by a longshot. I gotta say its a tough choice...I liked a lot of things from SOC, like having an encyclopedia on your PDA, and being to check "contacts" (the identities of detected stalkers around the area) and some of the extra stuff like the arena. I liked the improvements on CS, like the upgrading armor and equipment thing, but I hated how hard it was to get money in the game, artifact hunting was fun as well, aside from the terrible bugs and glitches it had, the game was great. COP has been great so far, with all the stuff into it, but I can tell the storyline is not that good

SoC my fav cause it had perfect atmosphere and feel. CS least fav, too much rehash. CoP was good but lacked the desolate isolation and dread feeling of the first.

I just started playing CoP with the complete mod, as well. I finished CS last week and SoC last year, both with the complete mods. I haven't played Pripyat enough to make an opinion yet on that, but Shadow was very good. In fact, it has become one of my favorite shooters to date. I agree with you on Clear Sky; I liked being able to upgrade weapons and armor. Where Clear Sky fell short for me was the atmosphere/fear factor. Shadow is one of the few games that made me say, NOPE! Like the first time entering Lab X18 -- as soon as stuff started flying around, I said "NOPE" and turned off the computer. It was just so unexpected and freaky. Those freaky elements were missing in Clear Sky.

TL;DR -- SoC is my favorite Stalker game that I've completed. I've only played a couple of hours of Pripyat, but so far what I've played is great.

Yeah I have SoC on DVD and that runs flawlessly but the steam version of COP runs like garbage, long load times and awful stuttering. Maybe I will try it on retail DVD and see how it goes.

If you enjoyed the first than it'd be worth it. I would suggest contacting Steam, but you might be waiting a very, very long time.

call of pripyat was the best, though i couldn't get that into any of them.

clunky controls, bad translations, horrible performance and just plain ugly.

BlackDevil99

What is clunky about the controls?

Bad translations: yeah, they aren't great. ;)

Horrible performance? All of the games have run smooth as butter on my computer, even using the Complete mods on highest possible settings. Maybe your computer isn't up to snuff or you just need to optimize it.

Ugly? I disagree, but this is an entirely subjective opinion here. None of the Stalker games have the best graphics if you're speaking in technical terms, but I think they look great in that they create the atmosphere that the Zone is meant to be. It's supposed to be gritty. The Zone was the heart of a nuclear meltdown.

I am going to swallow my pride and play through it again, only this time i want that graphics mod :D If the visuals improve, i can see it becoming slightly more enjoyable. Where is the best place to download it from?

I've beaten SoC and CS and am currently playing CoP on and off. So far, Clear Sky is my favorite. I liked the maps much more and upgrading weapons was fun. Plus it had factions that would vie for control, making the game feel a bit more dynamic. While the ending sucked because it was so linear, SoC had the same exact problem.
