Ah, I see. Yes, I'd still get it even if it is the way the review says. It doesn't sound like a bad game, just not nearly as good as it could have been.

Why wouldn't I still get it? I loved the first STALKER and probably will enjoy this one as well. It just sounds like a less polished and more ambitious version of the first game that doesn't do as much as the first game did "right."foxhound_fox

The first game averaged like 80% and I thought it deserved closer to 90%

I will, because it seems to have many elements of the Oblivion Lost mod. The random blowouts, the grenades, the dark nights are the things the Stalker community loves most about this mod. The only thing that bothers me is that the enemies speak english, but that's easy to fix.

It's frustrating to see how reviewers complain about difficulty and say this isn't a game for the casuals, therefore lowering it's score. I agree some balancing issues will exist... but it will never be as oligophrenic as Far Cry, which had huge scores.

There's been a lot of negativity, hasn't there? There's still a lot of what made Stalker so appealing here. It shows how having these sorts of character-improvement and living world elements can improve a shooter's appeal. Why do you think we're so angry when they take away all our stuff? Between the improved weapon modification and the more living Zone, a certain strand of Stalker fan will find much here to applaud, and those who've never actually played the earlier game at all will still be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of the place... but would be recommended going there first, perhaps with the Oblivion Lost mod attached.

A little tough? Maybe it's appropriate. Life is tough in the Zone.

Judging by that, Clear Sky could turn out to be the game of the year.

My copy is still pre-ordered. Have no plans on cancelling it either, seeing as nothing came out over the summer!!

A lot of opinions coming in suggest clear sky is too hard, I'm tempted to just play through on Easy, although I am used to difficulty in STALKER, I think it's worth noting how many reviewers are saying - not enough money, weapons, health etc. Perhaps they were aiming at a more hardcore stalker fanbase?

You are probably right, but again the original stalker didn't get this lambasted about it's difficulty if I recall. I'm just worried that Clear Sky isn't getting good reviews because Deep Silver can't pay enough advertising dollars to boost the scores

STALKER wasn't that hard on easy mode, which most reviewers usually play on *cough* rushing for the review *cough*. From what I heard of Clear Sky, you can't even kill 2 of 4 moderately armed bandits before getting riddled with bulletholes.

Stalker too hard? I'm playing it on the Master difficulty and still wish I had a greater challenge. Once you get the TRs 301 the game becomes WAY too easy.

I'll still be getting this day one... Which means in three days, as long as the European release won't get delayed. My only complaint so far is that the people speak English not Russian. I'm sure there will be a mod to fix that though.

In a couple of months when mods start to surface this game will be rockin' !!!

and even the vanilla can't be that bad. Except for the "pick pockets" thing.

Fallout 3, bad taste?! Rofl, you are kidding me right, flclempire? I hope you dont buy it then. I dont want you enjoying the game at all. I agree with Helbrec, I hate the Stalker series. Graphics are crap, script is crap, dialogue is crap, sound effects are crap. Even a 2001 game looks better than this. I wont get it, I never wanted it, I'll never like it.

I rarely allow second hand opinions to determine my game purchases, it takes an extream score either one way or the other for me to consider them.

IGN gave Timeshift a 7.6, that game is right at the botton of my FPS opinion list; yet they gave it a higher score than Clear Sky. I refuse to believe the developers dropped the ball that badly, I have to determine this for myself.

I'm not canceling my pre order, many of the complaints in the review were stuff the fans actually wanted.

no.......stalker clear sky don't deserve this. It's one of the biggest games. I think this happened because of the bugs the previous version has. among all the games I played, stalker has the most amount of bugs. I admit that really annoyed me especially that the patches containing the fixes leads to lose the saves that means all your progress will be lost, of course no one download this patches but I think they solved this problem in clear skyHm1911

Different person, but that you think scores will change from reviewer to review shows it is highly opinionated and unreliable. Oblivion scored high in the majority of sites and got GOTY, I thought the game was severely lacking.
