I'm looking forward to it, I haven't played the first one yet, but I may just play clear sky's first since it's a prequel.dahwnpapaya
It's an expansion pack, though. It hasn't been stated whether it's standalone or not (I don't think, someone correct me if I'm wrong), so you might need the first game to even make it work.

But if I buy both, wouldn' t I be able to play the second one first? sorry I'm sort of new to pc games.

Well, yes, if you install the first game first, then install Clear Sky over that (expansions that aren't standalone need the original game on the harddrive to even install). I thought you meant you'd buy it first and play it, then buy STALKER and play that.

Nah, I already have the money to buy STALKER and have already decided to but it,but i've been debating on what to do.
After looking at IGN and wikipedia it says that it's a "stand-alone prequel", although I still intend to buy them around the same time. Thanks for the help though.
Even though Clear Sky is a prequel, that doesn't mean you should play it first just because it's first chronologically. It's like The Chronicles of Narnia. When C.S. Lewis wrote the books, he didn't write them in chronological order, but you're still supposed to read them in the order they were published in. See, the devs of STALKER are probably going to do Clear Sky in such a way that certain things from the base game are going to be assumed as already known by the player, as a given. Not to mention, it's going to add new material on top of the existing stuff, so playing STALKER after the expansion might feel like it doesn't have anything new.
Basically, Clear Sky is (I believe) one of those prequels that intends for you to play the sequel first. It's one of those things where you're to experience the base story, then go back in time to understand what happened before. If you reverse the order, the feel of it might seem off, awkward.
That's how I see it, anyway.
ya the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R seems pretty cool but hey

I thought they were going to reuse a lot of the assets from STALKER, since it doesn't make much sense to remake the levels when they already demand a fairly good PC to run it. I expect the requirements for clear sky to be the same as for STALKER, especially if it is an add-on expansion rather than stand-alone.

What exactly does it do? I read its changelog on Gamershell, and all it said was something about some network fix.
Yeah thats true, but i've always wanted to do that with a video game but never actually did, so now I have the chance. Plus, I'll probably play through clear skys and have a lot of unfinished questions that may be answered in the first one since the ending of clear sky ends right where the other starts. So it could be interesting.dahwnpapaya
Since they follow on directly I would love to be able to create a stash of equipment in Clear Sky that I could find while playing STALKER.
