First impression of STALKER..... bad... First of all, this is not a review, or a hate thread. I have only played for about 2 hours but it has not been exciting. So after you install the game, I hope you have something to do for about 5 - 10 minutes, because thats how long it takes to load the game after you select "new game" that is if it even loads.. Next, after you finally get into the game, your PROBABLY going to be forced to turn the graphics down to med / low even if your PC is beefy. I am running 2 gigs of ram with an ATI X1800XT and it is struggling on "LOW" very glitchy and a lot of slow down. I feel bad for the people with low / medium end pcs :P My first experience going out into the world wasn't very smooth, the slow down and game freezing just made me want to exit the game after running around for about an hour. Hopefully the game gets better, but my first impression of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is B.A.D :(

how does one fail to neglect their processor speed?? if you meant fail to mention, I have pentium d dual core 2.8. core 2 duo is recommended but seriously.. it shouldn't hinder performance that greatly.
Yes, I just started playing the game as well, and the concept is really amazing so far, but the delivery is a little lacking. This game has been getting worked on for ages, and it shows. The movement of your character is very jerky, and talking to people becomes broing fast because a lot of them say the same things. That being said, this game does seem to have a Deus Ex feel to it. So hopefully, just like Deus Ex, I will warm up to it and eventually become obsessed with it. The potential is there, and this impression is with only about an hour of playtime, and not even having done the first mission yet.
I had good performance but sometimes afetr i saved i had to reboot my PC because it became unplayabel :S lol. Theres too many bugs atm and it's like playing a mmorpg at launch :\
Great Atmosphere and the world + graphics are detailed however lots of things dont make sense like side quests and its just not polished at all

Hopefully the game gets better, but my first impression of S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is B.A.D :( iam running the game on high settings and i have a 3700sandiego(2.2ghz) 2gb mbram and a 6800gs, loading time takes about 40secs to 1 minute , pretty good grafics no framerate issues, and yes iam running on vista, now aside from that i found that stalker game play is very boring and theres a lack of a good story, sure there are lots of quests to do and all, but i dont feel like doing them if you know what i mean, theres no motivation behind the quests. the A.I is pretty sharp tho it raises the bar on the regular fps.
Ok, for all of you on this thread....I know that 6 years of development has been a long time...I understand I really do....and for you to try the game and some of you think it stinks or doesn't live up to the hype or w/e the case... Listen....there will be a patch soon...and it will fix some issues...of course...now....as for the system requirements...idk man....I mean I downloaded the multi-player beta, and it seemed to run fine...different hardware setups for different people..this goes for the user who created this post...you might have some performance issues thats all....anyway...there will probly be user created mods/content and all....I mean after hl2 was beat..the only thing that kept me going back to it was mods... I mean some people to each is own...I mean other reviewers gave it 95's or 96's...I think if you go into this game thinking...6 years for this..it will disappoint..if you go into the game thinking open minded..and recognizing it for its different style of game play and more..then you might enjoy it more...
iam running the game on a 3700sndiego(2.2ghz) geforce 6800gs and 2gmran on Highsetting without any problems, it takes 40secs to 1 minute to load, aside from that gamelpay feels a little weird, lack of story and unpolished quests makes the game feels a little lacking, it has great graphics and the A.I is really something to look up to. oh and iam running it on vista sry about the rushed post its the third time iam typing this due to server error...
well, i for one, am enjoying the game. the load times are about 45 seconds - 1 minute at most. thats on an AMD 4200+, 2GB of RAM, X1950 Pro. im not forced to turn the graphics down, in fact, the only things that arent maxed out are the AA and AF, they are only turned up about half way. although the game is a little glitchy, its nothing that cant be fixed in a small patch, and the game is easily playable as is.

Ok, so I played the game a little more now.. and to be fair... yeah it's still B.A.D. face it. This game is for a small crowd, stop holding on to the hype. The questing in this game is so terrible, you're going to feel like you're not really sure what your goal in the game is... and whoever implied my statement about a dual core pentium d to core 2 duo can turn a game into a make or break, you are a narb ;)

The graphics are "decent" another thing I didn't like, I read about how they made the guns shoot like real life. Where the accuracy would be more to life, but I felt like I could shoot a firearm 99% better irl then I was in the very first mission of the game... I mean.. 15 - 20 yards from people with the reticule dead center in their chest and maybe 1 out of 4 - 5 shots would hit, even shift strafing with the reticule steady, and not firing to fast to prevent recoil :(

The AI is junky, their are loading zones, quests are uesless, story is hard to follow, its just outdated, If this came out aroud when Half Life 2 was relaesed it would have been received much better. But now its ,,,,,outdated....and I agree its not worth playing. its B.A.D
