The combination of the awesome story, the amazing atmosphere, and the fun gameplay came together in an amazing package that is definately in my top 10. Anybody else love this game?
I don't love it, but I really like it. I think people overrate the elements they often praise the game lavishly for, but it's still a truly great game.
STALKER is an FPS landmark. At first, before the patches were released for Vista, I thought it was buggy waste of space. But once patches game I reinstalled it with float32 and it was one of the best games I've played last year. Does something different and extraordinary.

I agree completly.. STALKER is an amazing game, the atmosphere is one of the best in any game to date.
Yes, a very good game, but it still has it's flaws. The game is only half translated, there's too much repeated diologe ("Get out of here Stalker!"), and some quests are flat out broken, even after installing the patch. But those things are easy to ignore with a game so addictive. Hopefully all of these issues will be solved in Clear Sky.
I love the game, but my favorite part is the AI. This is the only game where I wander around time and time again to find the AI is doing something new in weird locations that they aren't normally at. I almost feel like this is how Radiant AI should have been.
personally i thought this game was pretty crap. poor gameplay, below average AI, only adequate graphics, lousy music & lots of bugs, but stil lrequired a high end system to play. i dont really wish to see this type of pre-beta release being given to the public anymore.
