Stalker problem

I've bought stalker this mornig whilst up town and was looking forward to playing it when i got in from work, i've installed the game but seem to have a little problem.

My pc met all of the requirements, but once i've clicked on the icon, it goes past the logo's and comes to a screen, which fade black into red with the pointer, but nothing else on the screen.  The music is playing but there is no letttering or anything. 

Is anyone else having this problem.

Ok, i've done the srtest.  It says that that i'm needing Pixel shader version 2 and Vertex shader version 2.  I'm using an ATI Radeon 9000 atm, but i have a 9800 pro i can use, will this work?

Well I bought Stalker this morning, everything loads up fine, graphics look great etc but then.........

 I can talk to static bandits at the first camp I then go to speak to Wolf to start the first mission.  Find Wolf okay standing on a hill with his two buddies next to him agree to attack the bandits with him and then "bumfff" all three of them dissapear.  I walk to where the guy is being held prisioner to get what i need to get off him and he's crouching in the house but the problem is.......

Wheres the bandits I need to kill, i walk around the little village in and out of houses and my pda warns me someone is near ocassionally I see someone but they just dissapear into thin air right in front of me.  Once I found one guy sitting by a fire, shot him once and again he dissapears.  No signs of wolf who are ther to help its just weird as hell. 

 ive tried all settings but it happens all the time.  ive got an AMD dual core 4600+ and a Nvidia 7800GT card and when i installed it the game said i had recommended specs, confused as hell

To TC , as u've 2.0 Shader G.P.U turn ur settings to Static lightning in the options menu ( under video - render) , use latest drivers and restart the game.Hope it'll work this time .

To calebralph , Vista is ur main problem not ur rig . Play the game in XP and enjoy.
