i am at the begining and wat do u do

i am very confused

i talked to the guy

talk to the guy, get him to tell you stuff, keep talking to him by clicking the responses until you get a mission and the door opens.

Once you do that look at your map (top left corner) and it will show a white arrow, this white arrow will tell you were your next mission is at. A first it will be talking to a guy near the fire, who will give you a mission, then you go up the road and meet some guys who will assault a bandit camp and rescue a guy called Nimble (or shoot him) to get a flash drive to bring back to get a reward. Just follow the white arrow on the map.

YOu can also press "P" to go to your PDA which has a larger map, missions, rankings etc. Good luck.

This is my first hour on the game and I have a question. I get to the camp, talk to the guy, follow the direction arrow but when I get to the wounded man, he needs help and I pick up the medkit but when I chose to drop it near him, it ends up about 5 feet in another direction. HELP!!!!!!

Thanks.......I worked it out. Another question.....is there a "quick save" of any kind in the game? I can't seem to find any and when I get killed, I have to start the entire thing over and listen to the trader's BS. Thanks again for the help.

Try checking out some user mad mods for STALKER, you should be able to find some that'll help with the lagging (Float32mod, for example) and possibly for bugs (I haven't looked for any use mods that helps with bugs since I have hardly noticed any that affect my gameplay).

Stalker's problem ain't just the extreme buggyness, it's just the game altogeather is bland. To start off you have a confusing story and task system in the game, and some of the worst physics in the games of today.

But the buggyness shines so bad, that I can listen to Free Bird 3 times and barely get to my first task.

This thing is really getting crazy.I got some help to get a quick save and it was great but now, after a save and I get killed, I can't seem to just go back and click on the last save to get back into the game where it left off. It takes be back to the beginning when I'm dealing with the trader. I have to quit the game, go back to new game or load the game and then it will start where I need to be. CRAZY!! Also, would it be a problem to have a crawl mode in the game? If you want to hide, any sniper would need to go prone. Thanks

Trying pressing the quickload button instead of going to the load menu, quickload is either F7 or F8, not sure, I always remap mine to F5 (save) and F9 (load). I have to keep them apart otherwise I hit the wrong one:)

Patch the game to 1.0003 and go to www.thefloatingpoint.org to downlaod the float32 patch. Checking out the Stalker hardware guide at tweakguides might help as well. All this and the game runs rather well, except for the Garbage area that still hangs for 10 to 23 seconds (I timed it) on ocasion. The 1.0004 patch should be out in the next week or so... that should help.

Stalker has it's issues and it's not a easy game to get the hang of, you will either love it or hate it... there's no middle ground.

stalker.. is pretty wack with bugs.. and ive never seen all the crap with a companies or patches or support as i have with stalker gsc thq.. i mean.. i should have waited to buy stalker..for price to drop and wait and read of problems and see how patches etc. come out..

i bought the game the first day it was on shelves in my city.. i had to lower graphics settings alot..and quick saves did not work at all-well-stalker did not even think to include in the manual what ever for quick save or launch.. and none of my saved games or default game saves would work or even show in the list unless i closed stalker game to desk top.. then restart the game.. add other bugs.. stutter glitches.. freezing crashing at-least a few times each game ive played..6 endings what ever.. its a bite to enjoy.. i can only enjoy the game with patch us 1003 and faiakes 2.2 mod..

the first few days was stalker was out.. gsc had like 20,000 threads or posts of bugs and complaints..they had no formal support help..only good normal community folks offered help all while fan boys slam folks and start fights and still do today..and gsc was on a dial up server..so the server was slow and wack too..i do not think we will get any more patches or much official support for stalker..only community stuff.. mods and maybe a full sdk.. all other threads or talk or work is for clear skies..gsc even runs the 2 games together on its threads-folks do not know if they are talking about clear skies or stalker..promise this or that.. post clear skies game specs or what might be shown at the next show..folks think they are talking about normal stalker cause of mention of classic stalker game play..ya clear skies plays like normal stalker so what..

i try and like stalker more then i do..i do like it..wish it was fixed..but it will not be..and i will not buy clear skies period..well maybe when its 10 dollars.. every 1 i know and different types of systems have problems with stalker..only a few folks.. seems more like fan boys say.. stalker is perfect. they beat the game in 10 minutes with no patches no mods and on some out of box 3rd world p3 type computer.. and will fight about it too..its funny really..then all of these game sites even tweak guides say its all bugged out-half the stuff did not work..it crashes and after maybe some work and few patches will fix it..in the same breath say..its different..and ya its broken..we give it a 8.5 some places 9's and even 10's after saying its all bugged out..its a reason for that..they get freebies or some crap..and want people to fan the sites and buy game stuff..so.. i do not think the reviews are very honest..or help much either..

talk to wolf.. go up ladder behind wolf into attic.get goods..go out and around ledge to roof top..jump to next house over roof go to far side is a hole in roof..get merc suit..check all buildings before you go to first mission..help dude left side of road..

i normally storm the base over the hill with my pistol.. well wait for 2- 3guys at a time to come down the road.. kill and loot them..and then take the base and documents [hold them for later].. then help the dude on side of road with health pack and loot the trailer..help wolf's guys..then i take the bridge.. kill loot them..then go to trader.. get right with him..then trade if needed for a ak74 with scope and silencer..

then through tunnel area..then back to bridge and loot the train cars..stalker suit with gas mask will not show up until after you see the trader..then some times the game still will not give it to ya..im not sure if day or night out matters or not?? but you can start stalker not bad with a lil work..

Are you sure there is "stuff" in the building behind Wolf? I went through the entire camp and found nothing. Now, when I searched the car camp, I found a metal box that was suppose to have some shotgun shells but I could not open it. I even blasted it with the gun and it still would not open. I'm finding that this gamehas more bugs than a comdemned row house in D.C.

I didnt like it though, the guns seem to be more like peashooters than real guns.

I agree. But there is another thing that "bugs" me...........their guns shoot much streighter than the one you are holding. I've put 15-20 shots in his upper body and head and he either gets away or kills me.I'm at FIND THE MILITARY DOCUMENTS and can't seem to get more than 15 feet without getting killed. I have played many single player games and this one, on the lowest level, is harder in places than the others on the very highest level. Thanks

I'm at the point of canning the whole thing. I got as far asright before you get to the Sarcophagus and can't seem to get past the first gate. There are a hundred soldiers on the ground, helicoptors in the air and armored vics and all of them are after you. You can't stop to pick up any guns and get more ammo from the dead because you will be shot. The game is forever crashing or stalling. And who ever heard of a shoot and run that favors the sniper without a prone position?? If there ever was a game that needed one, it isS.T.A.L.K.E.R.There are just too many bugs in it to be enjoyable. Think I'll go back to the WWII games.
