I was wondering if it would be worth buying the original stalker game even though the knew one is coming out in a month or two. Thanks!

Also, is the game hard to run?

Another question, will it run well, or at least okay, on my PC?

Specs:

Quad-core processer

8500 gt graphics card

3 gigs of RAM

Yes, go get it now and play it before the expansion comes out.

Yes, your rig will run it superbly!

I don't know much about the 8500 GT, you probably wont' be able to max out the game with full dynamic lighting, but it is still a VERY cool game and I highly recommend it. I just bought it about a month ago since it's only $20 on Steam.

I have the 8500GT, the game is going to run perfectly, if you disable any kind of dynamic lighting, but if you enable it, it will run like ass.

The next game coming out is a prequel of sorts. For me, i always play the prequel after i play the first, because i get more satisfaction when i find out how/why something happened.

Okay, one more quick question. Is the game really scary, or is it just occasionly gross or suprising?

there is occasional terror in this game, and it is not shock horror. it builds, and puts you on edge. i would definitly get the game though, one of my favorite games in a while.

In all likelihood Clear Skies will make Shadow of Chernobyl obsolete, but it's a game worth buying regardless.

It isn't difficult to run. The game has been in development for something like 6 years, which means at one stage it was designed to run on much less capable hardware. It's no stooge though. You you will probably max it, but if not just make sure you have dynamic lighting above all else.

The game is more of a psychological horror. There are a few jumpy moments but most of the horror comes from the isolation and desolation of the environment.

STALKER is an amazing game with the most fantastic atmosphere. The game runs perfectly fine on system and your system is much better so you shouldn't have any problems. Pick the game up and enjoy it!

You have a great rig but your card is dragging you down badly. But you shouldn't have a problem playing that incredible game.

Stalker is a really good game, though it was a bit of a hog for memory when it started. Patches and a few mods helped enormously.

That system should have no problems running it, but the graphics card is a very odd choice to go with the processor.

I'm beginning to wonder why nvidia even bother to make cards like the x500s, unless it is just so companies like Dell can claim they put an 8x00 series card into a PC under £400.

I run it maxed out (i think) on my system so you should be fine.

Oh, and definitely get it, it's only $20 on steam, and it has great atmosphere.

So shadow of chernobyl has been in the works for six years, or are you talking about Clear Skies.

I bought if for £4 (like $8 I think) a month ago from Virgin Megastore, and it is the best cheap games I've ever bought. Indeed it is one of my favourite regardless of price

I just bought it and it's great. Does anyone know how to install the Float32 mod, because I unzipped all the files and overwrote the old ones, but it's the same exact performance except now there's 5gb of useless unzipped gamedata on my hdd.

Mine came with an installer, but you might also want to try the weather overhaul mod before float 32 as I believe it includes it. Aslo I would suggest aliVe for a tweaked Stalker experience.

Both. Clear Sky is supposed to be almost everything that was to go into Shadow of Chernobyl, but was not finished at the time.

Multiplayer is ordinary. Modes are Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch and Capture the Flag.

Definitely buy Stalker - I've played a lot of shooters and this is one of the very best - i agree it's rarely out-and-out horror, but it can be very atmospheric and there are some 'jumpy' moments. but it's jsut so absorbing, i've 'finished' the game now, but still going back and playing one or two missions i didn't bother with before

BTW if you can find the metal tin somewhere, and are prepared to spend a few extra bucks, it's really cool , with Zone Map and 'survival guide' with some good artwork, back-story etc
