[QUOTE="Kleptokaj"]I felt it was time to play some stalker, once again. So, i got AMK. I havent had any time to try it yet, beacuse there are two things i'd like to fix first. I would like to get rid of that minimap, and lower the carry limit. Apparently, you can just edit the carry limit yourself by changing a few numbers in your system.ltx files, but the values that i were supposed to change are not there, and i dont want to download a completely new system.ltx file (like suggested by one tutorial), beacuse it would most likely change all the AMK settings (?). But how do i fix these two things?Dark_prince123Don't cheat The best thing about the game is its diffuclty ( CS is harder though ) my advice Don't Cheat Disagreed. You can't compare it to CS, (if its counter-Strike your talking about) because you playing against human players. Sometimes itll be easy, sometimes hard. And as 2uneek4u said, disadvantaging yourself by taking out elements of the game that help you isn't cheating. You might have just misinterpreted what the tc said. Oh, and heres a defintion I found on the Macmillan online dictionary for Cheat: to do something that is not correct but makes it easier to succeed. Lowering the carrying weight and taking out the minimap doesn't exactly make it easier to succeed ;) Besides, the TC asked how to fix something, not get told to not cheat. So rather than tell him that he's cheating, why couldn't someone just help? One final thing. TC said that 'he felt it was time to play stalker, once again. In saying this, I'll assume he clocked it the first time round, and now he wants to make it harder for himself. So even if what he wants to do is cheating (which it isnt) he's already played it anyway.

By CS he's reffering to STALKER: Clear Sky.

LOOOOOOOOOOOL My mistake I should've written S:CS but Mr pinneyapple solved the mysteryYeah, before i played the game i got a mod that increases the carry limit, but I don't think I needed it. It's like 200 max default right? I think at least, anyway the mod i got was for 500 max, but i never got over 150, once you realise you have enough ammo, meds, energy drinks, etc. it becomes annoying picking stuff up all the time.
Hmmm... *wonders* the weight problem again? I have a few pointers for that, altho I must admit that I found the Complete 2009 mod an absolute must (Id not go for it since youre requited to start a new game) enemies tosses nades, you have a sleepingbag, and you have 10 kg more on your carry limit, (altho 2 of them goes to the sleepingbag)
So... Instead I wanna give you a few helpful pointers if youd like, they are fairly standard, so I hope you are not offended by them.
tip 1) ALL stalkers buy and sell items, as long as you dont have your weapons raised, and they are natural or better, whenever you can, sell your junk to them, think of themas random stores, itll help you greatly with you weight problem.
tip 2) Dont pick up all the guns that you come across, thier selling price is so bad that it is often not worth it at all, same goes for ammo, only focus on the ammo you need. any excess weight is just not very effective.
tip3) unless it is a quest item, never have more then 1 armor on you, armors are extremely heavy and sluggy (hint: but if you want some more weight limit there is a turist suitin the attic of the militeryoutpost near thestarting village, Id advise a scope before going to dance with the army, its light, has no protection but when lugging alot around for a trader it is great)
tip3) Medpacks, bandages and antirad, are your mainconcern, stop up on them when you can, and when you travel, always have food for 3 days (never more, youll find food often, but sucks to die from hunger)
tip4) that minimap is going to save your life when you get used to it, it shows all enemies in a visual aria, and belive me youre going to need all the help you can get later on.
tip5) weaponloadout: 2 rifles and no sidearm seems to be the best way to go, any more and you will be bogged down sadly, the only way to alter this is to alter the weight limit, but in honesty you will rarely require an arsinal, just 1 good short-medium range rifle (I prefer the g36) and a long range precicion rifle (the vss vin is a very good light sniper, both found in army warehouse, and can be had pretty easy without fighting, in secure area). as long as they are maintained you are good to go.
You know what? come to think of it I would download STALKER COmplete 2009 if I were you, it doessnt change the general feel of the game, it makes it prettier (nevermind that, just keep the settings on what you have now) but adds 10 kg, you can drop the bag if you dont want to sleep, it has no sideeffects, but just remembered that in the core game noone can repair weapons or armor. (Was planned in the game but was taken out by some dumb reason, the code is still in the vanilla game, just not activated)
that "no repair" thing really is bothersome -.- did not matter in the virst few versions of the game (first few patches) since armor degeneration was not implemented, and weapon degeneration was slower.
Pretty sure the default is 50. I'm playing with stalker complete mod 2009 and mine is at 60.Yeah, before i played the game i got a mod that increases the carry limit, but I don't think I needed it. I never played with it in Clear sky. I DID use it in Shadow of Chernobyl, but that was my first time playing stalker.tip4) that minimap is going to save your life when you get used to it, it shows all enemies in a visual aria, and belive me youre going to need all the help you can get later on.
