STALKER won't install. Please help.

See if any other dvd will work. Also, make sure you infact have a dvd drive. I've seen that happen before...FragMonkey09

It plays HL2 fine (just tested it). I've played DVD movies on it before. It says "DVD-RW Drive"

click on "my computer" and right click on your dvd rom. then click run program. that should do it. you should also wipe your disk with a tissue so that it is clean and readable.

There is no 'run program' option on the DVD drive icon when I right click. It's not displaying the game. It's like it doesn't know the game is there.

Have you tried it in another pc yet? Never heard of certain games not working with specific drives, unless maybe it's from another country. BeavermanA

I only have my laptop to use. no other PCs around that I can use.

I'd highly suggest trying BeavermanA's suggestion of trying it in another PC with a DVD drive in it. If the disc doesn't work after that you got a bad disc. You should be able to return a bad disc to the store you bought it from for a replacement. If the store gives you trouble tell them that the disc is bad and that you just want to get a replacement.

Honestly though, the game isnt very good, so if I were you I would see if you could return it and get something better.

Anyways, I still own the game, even after the patches, I still don't like it. Rather play Crysis, Bioshock, and/or Guild Wars. Plus I'm kind of enjoying MASS EFFECT on 360.

I'm having the exact same problem :(

and its a new computer with a 750 GB hard drive, a quad processor, extremely high graphic/sound card, basically it's like, an amazing computer,

so i definately meet the requirements,

but i have no idea why it isn't working, !

its really frustrating,

im the administrator, i tried everything i could,

but whenever i try to access my DVD drive that i put it in it says "Drive 'D:' is not accessable, ACCESS DENIED!"

so yeah, :(

HL2 doesn't even use the disk to play it. Therefore, that test is bull. Try a DVD, playing movies on it before doesn't mean that it's not broken now.

It could be a bad disk, coincedentally I had the same problem with Stalker, got it replaced with another one that works just fine.

Btw Mass Effect is also available at pc, installing it atm(hoping its better than at the box).
