Hello i got a problem with almost all of my games. It;s not a great problem but well it kinda annoys me:

In allmost every game, that game "thinks" i got very bad hardware or so and turns all the in-game settings as low as possible. And then i got to set them to high again. I got: Nvidia Geforce 9600GT (videocard), Gygabite P35C-DS3R (motherboard), 4 GB intern memory, 3 Ghz intelcore to duo prossecor. I got Vista (32b)

I installed all the latest drivers of my hardware and all the patches for the games. The games do recognize my hardware, but still keep the graphics low.

Can some one help me with this?

And with games as Call of Duty 4 it allways asks me if i can put the settings lower cause it "thinks" my pc can't run it that high. ow and wigginender i don't rlly get you...

Yeah, get a better PC. That's the only way. It's going to see your mid ranged graphics card and always set your graphics to low to be on the safe side. There is no way to "force" it. Just change your settings yourself.

lol it goes to the safe side? well if i can run cod4 at the highest graph's and even run crisis on high, it centainly doesn't need to set graph's at the lowest on any average game, with that my hardware is alot better then some of my friend's but they don't have that problem.

look it's not me being lazy it's just that it's kinda weird that games don't set the graph's at a rate which my pc can handle normally and instead turn them at the lowest possible. And while other pc's don't have that small issue i wanted to know if there was anything wrong. And well your idea about what is wrong with my pc isn't correct, because other machines with hardware that is not as good as mine don't have this problem. Look for games as prince of persia where you have to go to autorun and then click play and then go to settings and stuff it's harder to find, cause after the installation you never use the autorun. And well everytime an pop up of call of duty before you start with: "hey your pc isn't good enough for the graph's you set this game on, you want to change it back?" isn't lovely too. Look i just thought it was a simple fix or something in my control panel or something.

Games set it to the safe side so casual gamers won't be caused any grief. Also keep in mind that games aren't benchmarks. They'll maybe look at your CPU speed, ram, VRAM, and base it entirely off that.

That's weird, all my games auto set as they should, even before when I had a 9400GT and a 2.0 Duo Core, they'd set to mid settings... weird. Some games set to high, and I can run them in Very High, buy no biggie, I just set them to very high once, and they stay like that always.

Honestly there is no way to "fix" it with your surrent hardware setup.

And shame on the mod who thought my previous post was trolling. That was sad.

Hello everyone,

I'm having the same problem with my new iMac 20' bought dec 2008. I'm trying to play Command & Conquer 3: Tiberium Wars and Spore, both from EA. When i set all my graohic settings to very high, the game save the settings, but use another when I play. Should have a solution for this...

Tks,

Just manually change the settings. In Crysis demo it put everything on high when my laptop struggled to maintain a constant 30 fps. I put shadows on medium and water on medium and voila! no more stutter. In Fallou 3, it was everything on low. I changed it to everything high/ultra and no slowdowns whatsoever.

Moral of the story: play around with settings and see which ones suit your pc best. Don't always rely on the default ones to get the best possible playable experience all the time.

The problem isn't that.

The graphics are not good as it was supposed to be, i played spore in the same computer using bootcamp with windows vista and the graphics were insanely higher and playing with Mac OS I manually change the graphics in-game and it still not good, as it seems, the MAC OS X is kind of controlling the graphic settings automatically for each application instead of letting the graphic video card do it.

I think that I explained my problem better now...

Sincerely,

Why did you get a Mac? and can't you just run it in boot camp (whatever that is)?

You won't get the answer that you are expecting. Maybe it's a MAC thing if you say that the settings are higher when you play on Widows, but there isn't a thing that will set your games to a minimum/standard that you consider is right. Don''t play games on MAC, play them on Vista through bootcamp or just change the settings yourself.

i just want to say that i did find a solution to the "problem" on my pc. I got a Nvidia videocard and with that a special configuation option of Nvidia. In that you section you can adjust in :3D Settings: Adjust image settings with preview. Then in the right screen click on use my preference emphasizing:

set the bar to quality and well. Problem solved. No CoD4 who keeps whining that you should play the game with lesser graphics or so. You simply decide it for all applicationat ones instead of letting your videocard deside it for you and keeps it on the safe side.
