I was going to think of a great title for this topic but in the end decided to just tell it straight.

This game is nowhere near as good as other MMORPGS I've played, and I don't really write things in forums but just want to tell everyone how sh*t it is to make myself feel better.

After the total and utter nightmare I had to get it all up and running on my computer from outside the UK; after paying FORTY FIVE QUID for the game; after being refused access to the game EVEN AFTER PAYING FOR IT AND RECEIVING 29 DAYS GAME TIME, until I had set up a subscription (which is harder than it sounds when you're doing it from an area outside of their regional access zones) ... I expected this game to be amazing. I'd been looking forward to it for ages but what a let down. I know its new, but seriously, the bugs and glitches make it so hard to even enjoy the experience of being in a Star Wars universe. My char constantly gets stuck (and they've even made the effort to have a "stuck" button but it doesnt work for me usually), Im constantly disconnected (which fair enough might not be their fault), and I find every character ****a total bore to play. I've been playing RIFT and so because of this, the game seems even sh***er. To use an analogy, its like driving an old F!at Un0 - I can feel every bump in the road. I was looking forward to playing a Sith Lord only to find that in the online game world, the only thing I really have to do is keep pressing the action button for force lightning over and over and over and over. There arent any specifically unique features for any of the ****s so when you spend your time levelling and looking forward to that point where you get a great ability further up the talent tree...you wont do that in this game. There are a million other things id love to complain about but frankly it doesnt deserve the time.

I should've waited a year or two instead of a month or two to give them time to iron out the uncountable creases in the game, but from a perspective of someone who isnt amazingly technical, who just enjoys playing online role play games because of the feel of playing alongside other people in a reality a bit more interesting than the one we're forced to live in; I find this game a complete let down. The LFG system is ancient and is nowhere near as good as the completely automated one in RIFT, so if you dont want to spend your time stood near the entrance to a HEROIC pleading with everyone who runs past to help you, you have to type a message into the "general" chat panel which is a 50/50 gamble that someone else might also be doing the quest. There are no world events that everyone can join in on like in RIFT neither. I think the best thing about the game is the cinematic feel to the interactions with NPC's but apart from that, its complete garbage.

Play RIFT and come back to this in a few years and see if they have sorted it out.

World of Warcraft is still better than Star Wars: The Old Republic.

It's a good game but I won't be renewing my sub and I regret paying full price for it. It could have went to a GW2 pre-order.

I got a month of gaming out of it. I might go back after some time to see if they've added anything worthwhile.

I just find it soooo boring and repetative, far to many cut scenes and far to much traveling around without anything inbetween.

I don't see why so many people are hating on this game. So many saying oh i regret paying 60bucks..are you freaking kidding me??? this game has more content, story, and amazing game world than any other game released this year. If anything the 60 bucks we paid isn't enough to cover all the content and great stuff we received from this game. If you bought it and got your free month, good that money more than paid for what you got. MMO's need time to mature and find the right balance with everything envolving the game. I have played since early start, and have yet to find a reason not to continue playing.. yes it still has some minor bugs, but nothing game breaking. Quit WoW after 7 years of playing it for Swtor, and Im glad I did. This game mops the floor with WoW.

That's your perspective. The way "I" see it, I'd rather spend my time playing 20+ games this year, than play only one MMOG. And no, I do not have time to play both. I'm not a 15 year old any more. I played World of Warcraft for 2 years and SWTOR can't match it, ever.

I agree that you have to give a game time to evolve and to improve according to what people want, and if this game had been released at around the same time as WOW then no problem. I just think that the MMORPG's out there have been perfected so much that Bioware had at least somewhere to start other than right back to basics. Like I said before, I'm comparing it to RIFT because this happens to be the game I've been playing for a while, but WOW also has been improved over time - I just think Bioware should have looked at other games in the genre and thought "ok thats a good game function, lets do that". I'm not saying copy other games, I'm simply saying emulate what functions work with other games and adopt it in to make sure people are going to actually enjoy playing and then do their stuff to make it unique and Star Wars basically. Because they didnt do all that, the only reason I'm playing is because it's Star Wars and I'm sure they didn't work hard to keep people playing because they like the title as opposed to the work they did on the game.

I cancelled my subscription. Due to lack of content. It's a shame because i really admired what bioware tried to do with the story. The worlds they created were really amazing too. It was about as much fun I had since trying out DC Universe. Im reinstalling world of warcraft right now.

I subbed for 3 months and am now kinda regretting that. Pretty sure i will be done with the game after that. Game isnt amazing but its kinda cool. Starting to feel like a chore to play....hard to nail down exactly why but the game is losing its initial charm. I guess i'm not the only one.

The gameplay in that video looks completely awful. Almost every player has a lightsaber and looks incredibly similar, the combat looks just boring as hell, the boss doesn't seem to do anything interesting, the animations are downright terrible and it seems they're only using one or two abilities each. The graphics looks pretty bad as well, especially for a PC game released in late 2011.

When WoW came out, it was still an excellent game. It's an even better game now because it's been tweaked and added to over the years, but back in 2004 it was a very good game. One of the reasons I think this is, is the game engine is so fluid. The controls are just very responsive, everything works very well and every class is fun to play. These are things which haven't changed over the years and this is one reason why it remains successful for so long. The core game is very solid and well built. I had a shot of SW during the beta and it did play very well and was pretty smooth and responsive, although it didn't feel as fun to play as WoW is.

I am still having fun with it. Loving the Bounty Hunter story. Although when it came out i originally planned to sub for 3 months but towards the end of my free month I changed it to per month sub. Glad I didnt go with 3 months, its kind of a let down from what Ive seen.

WoW is obselete compared to this game really, and it has only been out a month. I don't see where all your bugs come in, because there are only 2 or 3 that are annoying but not game breaking. You say you push buttons and nothing happens, what else do you do in RIFT or WoW. It's the exact same thing

I like how people were expecting SWTOR to not turn out like a crappy wow clone.

Obviously with any game like this you're going to press buttons repeatedly, im not saying that you dont. Its nice to have a wide range of options as to what happens when you press those buttons though isnt it... i expected force lightning to be a power, not a specialization.. anyway, thats all besides the point. Its clear that every sinlge person has an opinion, and judging by this one thread alone, the bad outweighs the good. Based on this, if you think its great then..great..but most people seem to think its sh!t. After playing games like WOW and RIFT where they've nailed it, I guess I have higher expectations from a 'modern' MMORPG with the potential of the Star Wars brand. It's because games like WOW and RIFT are out there that they needed to make this amazing cos they're not just trying to attract people, they're trying to steal subscriptions from already loyal fans of other MMORPGs.
