Hey guys i need some serious help. I was playing sc2 today and then my internet was acting gay so i hit the windows key while i was on the sc2 menu so i can fix the internet. after i fixed it i pressed the sc2 icon on the bottom and the screen turned black. Then it froze so i had to manually shutdown my comp by pressing the power button. Then i turned it back on and nothing comes up on my screen... This happened to me once before, so i took it to a comp specialist nd he said my motherboard got toasted from gaming. But he installed a video card that automatically cools my comp down so i thought this would'nt happen. Im getting pissed off now cuz i dont have the money to spend on new motherboards. Another problem happened when i was installing the game, for some reason my dvd drive could'nt read sc 2 so i had to download the digital copy from blizzard w/ my cd key(dvd drive reads every thing else but sc2) . Can some one plz tell my why my motherboard got toasted even with a video card that automatically cools it down? and plz tell me how to prevent this from happening.btw the game ran pretty smooth hardly lagged
What exactly happens when you try to turn the computer back on. Do the lights come on and the fans spin but nothing else? Is there an error message? Does it try to boot into windows but cant?
Hmm there could be a variety of reasons for this, but all the troubleshooting will involve messing with the hardware. How comfortable are you taking off your computer's side panel and messing with the components?
Well if you're afraid of messing up and you've never trouble-shot a non-posting computer before, I would just recommend taking it to a small local computer shop (avoid the Geek Squad like the plague). Like I said there are a variety of causes for a non-posting computer, but all of them are hardware related.
