All that has been common knowledge for about a year now. Pretending it's news is a bit... well, let's just say that I have never trusted Amazon reviews anyway. :Palot of people are ripping this game because it has no Lan play, broadband connected at all times to play, buy 3 different $59 games to play all 3 races, you only get Terran campaign.

It was already common knowledge that this campaign was going to be focusing on the terran and from what I was reading around, you don't need to be online for the campaign. People are just B****ing to b****ing.. I personally don't mind mind having to pay 60 bucks for them to keep dishing out starcraft 2 content.. SLUSHiNaToR
couldn't agree more i been waiting a long time for a new SC and i will pay the money and not concern myself at all without reviews, blizzard never seems to fail me in my eyes.

so are you saying that the customers buying Starcraft 2 at Amazon are inferrior and dont know what they are talking about? I think they have a fair gripe.
So I went to Amazon to check out what's going on and found ending spoilers. Awesome.
Baranga
Sorry but i lol'd. HARD. XD

They don't, they knew exactly what to expect, just like all the MW 2 whiners, difference is Starcraft 2 is a great game that will last for years. All that has been common knowledge for about a year now. They are inferior and they don't know what they're talking about. Otherwise they'd know you can play the campaign offline, that the Terran campaign is the length of the original game and non-linear, that there are Protoss missions, that there are challenge missions outside of the campaign, that all races are available in MP and skirmish and that the next games are expansions and require WoL installed.
They also believe they're entitled to the game and make demands.

Anybody who gives Starcraft 2 a one star rating doesn't have an opinion worth consideration. That kind of rating is obviously an overly emotional reaction not based on reality and like a child they are lashing out.
Most people know better anyways, and the game will still sell like crazy. The worst that will come from all these online tantrums is the rest of the gaming world gets to have a few good laughs at their expense

Good morning...
This is how expansions work nowadays, they add new campaigns, Relic started it, complain to them, I'll just enjoy actually playing one campaign at a time, not just a little from this race, then a little in the next expansion then finally finish it in the third.

Yes, exactly. Baranga sums it up very nicely. :) Though technically what I said was that I don't put much stock in Amazon reviews, and never have. Companies hire people to go there and write glowing reviews of their own products and one-star reviews of their competitors. That has been going on for years, so it's not news either. Why you would think that by "Amazon reviews" I actually meant "everyone who buys Starcraft 2 from Amazon" makes no sense either. That's like claiming that when I said "Baranga" in the first line of this post, I actually meant "everyone in the PC &Mac Games forum on Gamespot". I know, Baranga is an awesome guy, but he's not the official spokes-person for the population in this forum. :Pwho cares about amazon review anyways?ghegpatatas
look i like to get my reviews from a wide variety of websites. You guys think only your views matter and everyelse dont.
You guys are the same people that complain all the time about Gamespot Editors reviews.
Do you expect people to take opinions that are more like a child throwing a tantrum seriously? And like Baranga pointed out, half the stuff they say is blatantly false anyways.
Not all opinions are equal...I know it's what our kindergarten teachers told us...but it's just not true. Lots of opinions are based on false information, are uninformed, are overly emotionally biased, or any other number of things.

So, they could've had LAN just like their previous title but they didn't? Seriously guys, why do you stand for this. If you're paying good money for the campaign, you should atleast expect full multiplayer functionality. And don't start with the argument that this deters game theft, it won't, some group will find a workaround, and only the paying customer will be punished. It is ample reason to lower the scores given for the game.sseth672
Going from, say, 4.5 stars to one is way too ample IMO.
There are people that dont play on the internet when they get together for LAN's? O.o? If i told my friends "by the way we wont have internet... they would laugh at me O.o
Why is this invalid. Sure maybe the campaign is lengthy. but the single player game still lacks diversity. It's standard that in a single player RTS you're expected to get more than one race in the single player campaign. And when this is changed, if people don't like this then they can fault the game for this reason. It's perfectly valid. That last part is a particularly invalid reason considering the length of the Terran campaign.

When the game was clearly created for one race, no, it's not a valid reason, you don't get DoW 2 for example just to complain that you don't have an Imperial Guard campaign when you know that it was created only for the Blood Ravens/Space Marines. And what does diversity have to do with having one race? I don't know about you but when I want diversity in a game, I want diversity in it, not more units, I want diverse missions, levels, environments and Starcraft 2 has just that. That last part is a particularly invalid reason considering the length of the Terran campaign.

Ok but this is still not enough for some people. Esepcially those who played Starcraft where there were three very beefy campaigns for all the races with the full story told for each of the races in one game. there is the question of people not wanting to buy one game three times just to get the complete story from all three races perspectives.

I don't know about DOW2, but what I've heared is DOW2 didn't have that great a single player campaign anyway. It wasn't a typical strategy game in the single player aspect. So maybe it's not the best comparison? Why compare SC2 to something which is not rated highly. You're not doing SC2 any favours, you're just bringing it down to DOW2 single player campaign level. And people expect better than that from a game 7 years in development from Blizzard. That last part is a particularly invalid reason considering the length of the Terran campaign.

Well i think the point of Amazon reviews, is that potential buyers post their experience/opinions. they're not supposed to be full reviews, like you find in gamefaqs and occasionally in GS. If Blizzard remove standard features. SUch as Lan, true offline single player. And they remove races from the single player package. Seriously what do you expect? they're not giving the buyer something, they're taking something away. So what is the problem with customers not being happy with that? I never understand fanboyism and that is all I"m seeing in this thread. The amazon reviews are just plain stupid, the one star ones, and honestly some of the 5 star ones as well (ones just saying "OMG THIS GAME IS SOOOOOOO AWESOME" with little else.
The one star ones are even worse in some respects, because some of the "reviewers" are then slamming people for buying a game, when it was so obvious some of these features wouldnt be in it.
Almost half of the reviews on Amazon right now under one-star are just the following:
"No lan play, $60, not buying this"
That is not review material, thats not even blog material, its more like twitter material.
Reviews should have alot more info than that, those are just plain stupid. Its Spore all over again, but even worse.
Hopefully Amazon gets rid of most of those soon.

It's 6, not 7 and most of it went into the multiplayer, which has all 3 races.

I actually own it. i just never managed to get into the game because I stopped playing it because the single player has virtually no strategy. and the multiplayer didn't have many players online when I bought it. in terms of what I heared about DOW2, well even GS states the single player campaign has no strategy.. so meh. I don't understand what everyone is missing that you're not. Development started 2003.. it's 2010. but 6/7 whatever it does not matter. Still too much time, and more than enough time for them to release a game with single player featuring all three races.

It has full functionality, Works perfectly fine. Boo hoo, I need an internet connection. Some of you people need to get over it and enjoy the AWESOME game that is available to you.

You obviously haven't played the game...or heard of this little thing we call expansions. There are protoss missions added in to the Terran campaign, and it is easily longer then the original game and brood wars together. No lan support doesn't bother me, my friends and I have the internet. Plus the way my apartment is set up, it won't be a problem if friends want to come over and bring their rigs.
Really about the only legit complaint I have seen people make (outside of actual thought out complaints about the game itself, from people who have played it) is lack of offline single player. I can understand that one, but outside of that there is little to no sympathy from me.

Maybe NO LAN doesn't bother you. but it bothers plenty of other people. hence why there's complaints. No offline single player bothers people. Lack of having to pay 3x for all the races story lines bothers people. And that is all there is to it. You can come up with all the excuses you like, but these missing elements which are usually seen as "standard" in a single player strategy game. Is going to piss people off, and they will complain. So get use to it.I lol'd. My last few purchases were rated 2 stars and lower, yet I was perfectly satisfied with each of the games I bought. So I take Amazon reviews for video games with a very very small grain of salt.Amazon reviews are about as trustworthy as FOX News. :)
