okay, i am not attacking blizzard or starcraft
i played probably all blizzard games, i still have all the game cds somewhere in my home

I think all the hype for that game might not be justifyed at the end
... okay it's a sequel to the greatest RTS of all time
... okay you guys are excited because it's been 9 years
okay the custom mods/maps community will be fully supported and i truely do like this aspect

but here's how i see it !!

it is using the war3 engine wich is getting a little old
where the maps weren't that big
not so optimized for mass units (but i do believe they really work hard on that, don't bash me for this plz)

the animations weren't great and too scripted
like walking and shooting is the new hot thing today

you can have a massive amount of units on the map
but here, they said the intense action games will last around 15 minutes, but if you want to make a big army, it will take time, i don't think they will respect that promise
*remember in warcraft 3, you tell a group of ranged units to attack a target, they all get in line, the first unit gets the best spot at max range, after the other ones need to walk around those units to get their spots at max range too (if you don't remember, ask and i could find a pic) this was shown, the same problem, in SC2 videos ... now with lots of units it will be hell, totaly !

now the units have habilities
but if you do have a really big army, or if you have to be in your base/buildings to produce that insanely big army ... will you have time to use every unit's truely full potential with all their habilities ?!

COMMAND & CONQUER 3 CREATORS WORKING ON IT !!!
this sounds to me like a total disaster
all the counter aspects of the game, that will make the games a lot longer, for choosing all counters and making sure to be protected from everywhere against everything
either the games will be very short (if you act noob and use 1 unit) or very long
the mothership and all the C&C3 copying .... that smells the flop !

you do realize what will happen if the game is terrible? both koreas will invade USA... but i do agree i see some terrible changes in sc2 such as all these new characters and up to 3 abilities they have which seem overpowering and i want the dragoons back or else blizzard will die! lol

I am not sure where you got the idea it was using a War3 engine, cause the PC Gamer magazine (US version) had the Starcraft 2 sneak peek during the latest issue and the devs said that they are using a new engine and the guy who worked on CnC Red Alert 2 (the last good CnC game IMO) said "Starcraft is such a great game that we really don't want to mess its legacy up". Blizzard has always been serious about its games and they know by now (hopefully) what made the original Starcraft so damn popular and so they should now perfect that formula.

I plan to get this game whether its good or bad (I own, or have owned, all Blizzard games and this will be no exception).

hes just stating a opinion on this thread.... and thats what its for right? While i do not necessarily agree with all of this(like the animations.) But i do agree that this game will never be able to live up to the hype and will probably become a C&C clone(gameplay wise) But i will still probably pick it up eventually

New engine that will likely take advantage of DX10 and the new PS and channels down the road. The core focus is making the majority of the art assets specifically for medium PCs. But they still add on a lot of greater tech features like lighting on top of that; they just don't want to make the art assets specifically for high-end resolutions and then force most of their players to downscale everything. That would look worse than if it was handcrafted for them since mass downscaling as a whole lacks that personal touch of being able to make sure everything looks just right for said settings and resolution. By the way, the core game design is still overseen and directed by Rob Pardo. He's one of the biggest reasons for StarCraft II's balance. He was heavy on map design originally, and especially in balance for Brood War, and was likely the most active developer in actual beta games. WoW folks would recognize his EnoYls tag; that comes from StarCraft beta and SlyOne.

That guy also happend to work on a number of other medicore games buddy, he headed CnC Generals and BFME 1 and 2 and RA 2 wasn't really a good game I mean if you played it casually it was loads of fun, but for people really into RTS games and deep strategy it was plain awful tank spam fest.

Those are what you call mediocre games? I really wonder what you consider a good game to be.

Your information is incorrect and the graphics are 10x better than the War 3 engine. Did you even bother to watch the 20 minute long game demo? Or did you just go and look at a screenshot and pull out the jump to conclusion mat? I am not even going to go into the detail of the differences of the StarCraft 2 engine vs War3. Bottom line is, Blizzard does not make crappy games and one developer on that team that you think is a weak link doesn't matter because it is a team of people working on this game and alot of them worked on the original.

Honestly I don't give a damn if you like StarCraft 2 or not. But I do give a damn about you coming in here and dropping a big turd that is creme filled with incorrect information.

in their defense, they WERE using an alpha code when they demonstrated the game... Alpha--->Beta--->Gold, so.... you got to realise that the game is WAY far away from release, or even from a public beta, so just give it time.

Honestly, the game could be crappy and it will still be ultra popular. Just because of its name. But Blizzard really doesnt make bad games so...
