So with Starcraft 2's Heart of the Swarm, do I have to own Wings of Liberty to play it?

Or can I just buy Heart of the Swarm and be able to play the multiplayer and the HotS campaign?

Since I don't want to buy Wings of Liberty if I am going to be able to just buy Heart of the Swarm and be able

to play the multiplayer.

They should make it full price to anyone that doesn't own Wings of Liberty, but make it 50-75% off for anyone that

already owns Wings of Liberty. If Heart of the Swarm is full price for everyone, even $40 dollars then I am definately

not going to buy either. Since that makes Blizzard greedy,

Man that is evil, making people that want to get into the series have to buy both HotS and WoL, and eventually LotV.

All at full price forever, ($60 for WoL and whatever for the other two). If the expansions are $15 dollars, then that won't

be bad, but if it's like $40, that just evil.

How do you figure? Most games require you to have the original to play expansions.

The stand alone expansion is a relatively rare thing.

If HotS contains anywhere near the amount of content as WoL then it will be well worth $60.

SC:WoL requiered for HotS ... yes, this is Blizz for ya ... They are well known since their WoW c**p that everything new requiers something old, no such thing as "stand alone" in their dictionary ...

Well from what I expect and will probably happen is that mostly everyone will buy the expansion, and then everyone

will only play that online. So if you want to play with everyone, especially friends you'll have to get both games. Which is

a rip off to the new players.

Most expansions don't convert everyone over, they are played but the original is played just as much if not more. At least with my

experiences with expansions for games. MMOs being an exception.

So what is going to happen is Blizzard will consider HotS an expansion and not a sequal, but it'll basically be a sequal after a couple of months.

Since everyone will be playing the HotS ladder and not the WoL ladder (as much). This is why I think it's unfair.

That's how most expansion packs work. Hence the name expansion pack.

Well you see, with WoL it wasn't even worth $60 dollars to start off with. Since I never played the campaign and was never going

to from the start. And I wanted LAN, since I didn't care about online multiplayer.

So with HotS, it'll be the same. Won't play the campaign (and that is what they decide for the price, not the multiplayer, which is retarted),

but this time I'll play the online multiplayer since a LAN version is never going to happen. So to me HotS should cost $15-$20 dollars.

As long as it's an "expansion price" (which is 15-20 dollars) and not $40-60 dollars.

$15 for an expansion pack? Hahaha...keep dreaming!

$40 is the standard rate for premium brand expansion packs these days and $30 for lower-tiered games.

I figured Blizz would go all out greedy and just charge $60 for each of them so at least we can be greatful for that.

For every expansion pack I have ever bought it has been $15 or $20 dollars. They should be lucky enough I give a crap

for playing that much on something that should be free. You will make more money with a BETTER service over a better game.

Blizz expansion price is anywhere from 40$ to 50$, it's not evil, it'll have more than enough content to justify the price.

If you think that's evil, simply don't buy them, your loss.

You don't own WoL and thus have no way to know how their service works, but you're criticizing it anyway, and then you say *they* are lucky you give a crap about their game and that it should be free for you?

Just because you add more campaign crap doesn't mean you should raise the price because of that. Campaign is worth what 20 hours, while I've thrown over 1000+

hours into the multiplayer. I don't think we should get free expansion, I think we should pay $20-30 max for an exansion. Especially for an expansion that will pretty much become a sequal a few months after release.

Fail (This is why I hate solid communication, DS9), since all those things I am talking about something different. When I was talking about the 1000+ hours, I was talking about Starcraft 1 (LAN multiplayer not online multiplayer). When I said I don't care about online multiplayer, that is true....it was the reason I didn't buy Starcraft 2, I WANTED LAN, could care less about the multiplayer. You didn't specify you were talking about Starcraft 1 at any point, in fact in your previous sentence regarding the time spent you were talking specifically of the SC2 campaign and you've only been talking about Starcraft 2 all thread long, maybe you should word your own posts better rather than blaming "fail" on others. Expansions don't "become sequels months after they're released", expansions either are or are not sequels.

Love how people either don't read original posts, have short term memory lose or are being ignorant on purpose.

I want to get HotS because I am finally thinking about buying my own copy of it. That's why I was asking those questions

Seriously people need to read previous posts or get their memory fixed (this being related to your last sentance). Anyways, I didn't specify I was talking about

SC1 because I was more of talking in general terms. This is why you don't assume, because you jump to conclusion and everyone starts getting confused.

Yes because sarcasm is appropiate in a conversation over the internet. You do realize sarcasm is 80% how you say it. Also I love how everyone makes fun of people

that complain about something. If I can ask you kindly, what is "appropiate" to complain about in this world?

Because everyone is ignorant, causing problems, not helping, not reading. Yeah that is a community I would rather

avoid. Everyone on the internet these days are total jackasses. No one actually trys to help, except the guy that

replyed back to me the first time. He actually helped out another human being. Instead of trying to piss poeple off or

cause a useless arguement.

You just described your OP a little and your 2nd post entirely. The only way to help you with this problem would be to give you some money for a part of HotS and SC 2, even if you have problems with logic I assume you know this won't happen, you're also the one that started to insult others...

Blizz games will always be expensive (except WoW series) even on sales and with discounts, you can call it evil all you want and refuse to accept that it's outrageous to ask for so much content for free, but fact will remain you either save up, if you can't afford it, sure it might take a while but on the other hand SC 2 won't die for another decade, or you borrow from your friend assuming he buys or even a third you split the cost you share it equally, if he/she's not into it or loses interest fast (it's a tough game) you'll have it all for yourself only disadvantage is that in the end it's still his/her account.

Thank you, I appreciate your responce, this is the type of response everyone should do. I don't mean to call it evil, and I don't expect to get things for free. I was pointing out that expansion should be

expansion prices and not full game prices. If you look at Red Orchestra 2, that is a great example of a game that gives a lot for the amount they are asking. Which is $40 at the moment, I mean with that game I would buy it for $60. I'm like these people (Red Orchestra Developers, or even Torchlight 2), I like doing things for fun, and not worry about money. I'd be fine if people pirated a game I made, because it's more important (well it's what I believe) to let as many people experience your "work of art". :)

Back onto what you were saying, yeah I have been saving up for SC2, and I was just at the point today as to either wait and buy HotS or just get WoL. I really would like to play with you guys. I think the internet has just made a lot of us mad at each other, and annoyed by each other. Sad that no one got my Deep Space 9 reference, about how our form of communicating is terrible because it doesn't convey what someone is feeling and thinking.

Thanks again and maybe we will 1v1 some day in Starcraft. ;D

Man that is evil, making people that want to get into the series have to buy both HotS and WoL, and eventually LotV.

All at full price forever, ($60 for WoL and whatever for the other two). If the expansions are $15 dollars, then that won't

be bad, but if it's like $40, that just evil.

You clearly don't understanad how expansion packs work.

[QUOTE="Moriarity_"]If HotS contains anywhere near the amount of content as WoL then it will be well worth $60.Stream_Beta

You don't play the campaign.

You don't play the online multiplayer.

What the hell do you play then?

and you spell retarded, retarted
