It wouldn't be so bad if they actually lived up the promise of 'The scope of the single-player experience was so huge'.

But I see the single-player being no longer than the original Starcraft.

Yeah, why is everyone freaking out? It sounds like an episodic RTS, big deal, we have plenty of episodic games, as long as the multiplayer comes in the first game and its not overpriced its no big deal

Depends how they are priced. It could be that it will allow them to release it sooner. Id wait for more info before judging too harshly.. I don't really think it would fly if they plan for all three to be full priced.. (meaning $50)

As long as they are priced fairly then it will be fine. Putting too big of a price tag on it isn't like Blizzard, I would expect to see the original for maybe $40-50 while the ones that follow are $20 with multiplayer add-ons along with the singleplayer (think dawn of War and it's expansions).

It's fine with me. It's basically two expansions.

We get the full multiplayer game in the first release, anyway. If you want more of the campaign, then buy the two expansions. If they were to release everything at once, there would either be a degradation in quality or a huge delay, and we definitely do not want a huge delay.

That's the most ****** news for me this year. I will get all 3 of them, but they had to release the protoss campaign the last :| I don't know how this will work, WTF should we do in multiplayer?. I hope they will release the zerg and protoss campaign in the next two months after the release of the terran "game", otherwise it will be the first Blizz failure imo.

To be honest, as a big Blizzard fanatic (with exception of WoW), I am highly dissapointed at this SP trilogy. Unless there is a super engaging story-line for each of the three races, with the campaigns being longer than in SC + BW and costing very cheap, I will have to pass on Starcraft 2 until the prices drop to where they should be (which is 20$ per race IMO).

I don't think you can call them expansions as the article says that "....each title ending the same way". To me sounds like it is 3 different roads to get to the same end.

they should do mit that when you buy the first game you pay 50(or 60 is pushing it, of maybe not with the plunging markets) and then when they finish the rest of the game( a.k.a 2 and 3) you will get it for free. good idea or what? it gives the develpers time, and the consumers, something to look forward too.

Well okay, it's just me, I want to actually know about the units and the story. As much as Starcraft is a multiplayer game, I liked it for the single player campaign. + I hate the terrans so yeah, sp will suck too for me.

Only good news from Blizz, no anouncement for a melee class that is actually good, not the lame barbarian ad now this, and that protoss campaign will be the last and zerg the 3nd, but I don't like zerg much.

I am sorry but the game is going to have 26 to 30 missions, just as much as the whole starcraft campaign. Anyways Heart of The Swarm and Legacy of the void sound cool but Wings of Liberty makes no sense.

As long as levels aren't recycled and each campaign is long (and good) enough to warrent its price, I don't see what's the problem here honestly, unless they're released at the same time. It will be ridiculous if it's just one game split in 3 and released all at once, but if it's episodic (and good), whatever, take my money.

as long as the prices are fine and it's worth it. Don't tell me that the first game which features the terran campaign will only get us to play as terrans in both SP and MP that would be madness.

This is just a bad idea on all parts... From what I understand you get the full multiplayer experience on each game...What is to keep people from buying one game, and then pirating the other two? Blizzard games usually have a great incentive for people not to pirate their games (amazingly good multiplayer) but because the campaign's will be split into 3 products, we're going to expect some rather beefy pirating....that's what it's going to look like depending on the cost.

Why didn't they just release them as expansion packs? The added on multiplayer options in those would ward off a good chunk of would be pirates. I honestly think blizzard would make more money this way, I'm a huge blizzard fan but there is no way in hell I'm going to pay $30-$50 for each campaign. I'm honestly starting to believe that all that money from WOW went straight into blizzard's head, this is rather unbecoming of them. :?

I don't understand why everyone is all negative about this.

They stated that each separate game, is not an expansion, it is a standalone game. The campaign of each game will be equivalent in length of the original StarCraft.

I guess what they want to do, is have one really epic, massive and indepth campaign for each race, this is Blizzard we are talking about, just like Valve, they always deliver.

If Valve is allowed to split HL3 into 3 episdoes, why can't Starcraft do the same thing?

One thing I have never understood about the pricing of games is that no matter what the quality of the game, they still decide they can ship at full retail price. I assume it's $50 USD which is standard there? Well, the way I see it is that it's unfair for games of different calibre to be priced the same. Just an example, I would gladly pay double the retail price of other games for GTA4. And if I had known I would play CSS for 4 years... I would have gladly paid double for that as well.

The gaming industry and motion picture industry are the only ones that come to mind when it comes to this unfair pricing, you get really bad games, and really good games, and games you can't do without.. yet they are all the same price. You get excellent movies, and movies which are laughably bad, yet you still pay all the same prices for them. (And I know there are some exceptions, budget pc titles, but don't nitpick here, we all know there is a MASSIVE difference in quality even between all the games that cost full retail price.)

This is Starcraft II, if it is anywhere near as good as the original Starcraft was when it shipped, then I don't understand why gamers aren't willing to pay more for a quality product.

PS. Whine whine whine, us Kiwis have to pay for $100 NZD each for each new release, that's about $70 USD.

Why would a pirate buy the first game and pirate the other two? A pirate would just pirate all three, and would do so regardless if they released one game or three.

It's because of the multiplayer, alot of pirates are that way because of their finacial circumstance. If all of three campaigns are at 50$ the full price you can expect alot of people to just buy one game and pirate the rest to get the full experience.

Sounds pretty stupid to me, I think I would rather have the entire set cost more then the regular price of a game rather then having to buy three seperate games. Hopefully they wont cost $40+ each and they better be damn good. If each of them really are like full games and are well done it could be pretty big

Epsiodes only work when weaved into FPS, where the player experiences all things he is capable of experiencing as if he bought ALL the episodes (save the story/plot). It doesn't work with an RTS - whole races are excluded from campaign and I just don't see why Blizzard would do such a thing. Sad.

Grow up. When it comes to the amount of content you get for your money, nothing beats blizzard. Do you really expect this to be any different. How about you go and try to make Red Alert 3 last as long as Starcraft 2....see how that works out for you.

I don't really play much mp in RTS games, so I'd prefer to have say 10 missions for each faction, than 30 for one faction. That's just how I role, 10 is enough to compose a story, 30 surely has to have about 10 filler missions in it.

And this is Blizzard! I freaking knew it. Nearly every major talent at Blizzard has been replaced or has lost their power. Remember it's not really 'BLizzard'... it's "Activision Blizzard" And in a few years from now you will see them as one name because they WILL just be the same people making cheap ass games. Blizzard and all of their great series... are dead. Just getting your hopes down so it doesn't give you a heart attack SC2 or D3 end up flopping or just not being that great. Seriously... get your hopes down NOW! They are NOT the same people anymore.

Terran Campaign + Multiplayer= $50

Zerg Campaign + Multiplayer Additions= $20-30

Protoss Campaign + Multiplayer Additions= $20-30

And the whole trilogy will be out sometime in the 22 century right?!

I'm excited about this decision. My reasons are that Blizzard will be able to make each campaign extremely immersive and unbelievable while not trying to cram them all into one game. My next reason is that we will definitely be seeing Starcraft 2 much sooner and we will be able to play the multiplayer which is my favorite part of this series.

I assume that the first game in the trilogy will feature all three races, because it would be hard to believe that you're only going to play against terrans on Battle.net.
