Which game/series do you think is better? Personally I prefer WarCraft's story, races, and characters over StarCraft's but I think StarCraft has better gameplay. What do you think?
Well better in terms of sales goes to Starcraft game. However the Warcraft series might be up to par or surpass the Starcraft series as a whole, not sure on the numbers.
As for which one is better, the answer is neither. Each caters to a different type of player. I prefer Warcraft 3 over Starcraft any day. It's just my taste.
I knew this was coming. Infact I would have posted the topic myself if I wouldn't have been busy for a while. Well Warcraft is an amazing game, the best RTS ever (in my opinion). Though I am yet to play Starcraft, from what I have read so far Starcraft lacks the need for micro-management which makes Warcraft a great game. Just creating a horde of units and unleashing them on opponents is not strategy. Warcraft makes you think twice before spending a single gold coin. You have to carefully consider which unit to produce depending upon your strategical planning. I will try to play Starcraft next - to know how it really feels like.
I prefer Warcraft's Hero system and the low unit cap over Starcraft's massive battles. I also like the Human/Orc setting too though Starcraft's sci fi setting isn't too shabby either.

because that be too cool. it would create a black hole and devour everything not as cool. so basically the end of the world. starcraft is for players who like large battles and like resource management on the macro side of things. warcraft on the other hand is for those who enjoy tactical micro management. which is very tedious to me so I'll go with starcraft.
I'm more of a single player story over multiplayer type of person so I prefer Warcraft. People may hate the hero system in WC3, but I thought it's what made the game incredible in my eyes and worked all to well with the story and the RPG elements of it. Starcraft had a good story too, but lets face it, it's pretty shallow compared to the depth of WC3/FT. Of course that's not really fair since Starcraft came out 10 years ago and standards have increased since then.So I'm really hoping they can add that in depth story telling to Starcraft 2, but that will quite some feat to pull off.

Agreed. There is nothing like the story of Warcraft 3.
