Is it me or Starcraft's 2 graphics have vastly improved since it was announced? these are a few of the latest screenshots. They look so crisp and detailed, simply stunning! they also appear to be a bit darker. what do you think?

as the devs said, the game will always change until its release date. Obviously it will change from the time it was announced and the time they actually did 1/2 of the game. Expect more imoBegemott
yeah i agree with you that games change a lot during their development but graphics usually get downgraded in the end... We are fed with target renders and in the end we get much worse results. its a nice surprise from starcraft 2 .
The graphics have changed a lot since it was first unveiled.
They made things less round, added some grit and desaturation, and replaced the hard stencil shadows with soft shadows. Overall graphics detail have improved as well. I expect the graphics to continue to improve until launch.
Yeah somehow, in some pics looks great but in some it looks like it was meant to be released 4 years ago.:? DOW 2 looks better.
Anyway, this is Starcraft, so I don't really mind. Can't wait till December.:D

What's in December? o_0
terrans - spae marines anyone? If you were expecting graphics over gameplay and balance you were looking at the wrong game.
zergs - tyranid anyone?
protoss - eldar anyone?

As long as a game is in development, there will always be room for improvement, graphics being one of the obvious and most noticeable improvements. Left 4 Dead within a year, was improved visually. The first screenshots and video clips were hideous and now it's very passable. Either way, PC gamers will have the upper hand in the graphics department. That's why I love being a PC gamer.Elann2008
Agreed.

welcome to 10 years ago :D
I also agree, SC2 looks a lot better now compared to 1 year ago. A lot less cartoony. While it still doesn't look as good as cfor instance e:tw or dow2, it doesn't look like a 2005 game anymore.
althrough the explosions still look funny :D
improved?? Nope, they always look good to me, but then again this is the pc board where if a game doesn't look as good as Crysis then it looks terrible.wizdomGod I hate that kind of mentality with some gamers.
And yes it looks really good, hopefully it'll be just as good whenit comes to gameplay.

i dont know if what you are saying has anything to do with the topic. I do know that Wahammer40k is much older than starcraft universe and it has a huge amount of story behind it but too bad no one has managed to bring that content in video games. I dont read warhammer books neither collect the miniatures, i play video games though and Starcraft universe lore and story is miles ahead of any Warhammer universe related game.

Like you play the first campaign, and then you have to wait for the second episode to play the second campaign. I hope it will be something like Broodwar and Frozen throne.[QUOTE="Lach0121"][QUOTE="Nikalai_88"]No sane person can think that the Terrans are based on the Space Marines.Lach0121
close to the space marines from the aliens movie.
the way they talk i mean, and act. but hell alot of games use those marines as a mainstay. The post was meant for the guy who compared them to WH40k Space Marines.

PC games never get downgraded.
Nice graphics btw!
I just want the full game in one package released all at one time so I don't have to suffer through cliff-hanger endings.foxhound_fox
Didn't they say that all the endings will be the same?
Anyways, about the whole graphics evolving as the game moves along, just look at the original screens for Starcraft compared to the screens of the release version for an example of the evolution of Blizzard's games. Seriously, it went from looking like Warcraft in space to...well...what we have now...er...10 years ago.
[QUOTE="foxhound_fox"]I just want the full game in one package released all at one time so I don't have to suffer through cliff-hanger endings.gs_gearMe too. Too bad we'll get it in episodes.:(
I'll say it again:
From what the devs have said, it looks like only the missions and races will be different. As far as we know, the endings for all three WILL BE THE SAME.
Here's the exact quote:
"Pardo noted that each release will be a fully fledged campaign, featuring 26 to 30 missions apiece. The celebrity World of Warcraft designer also noted that while the ending of each game will be set, the middle of the game will play heavily to player choice, allowing for branching storylines."
(I have bolded the pertinent part)
In addition, here's a quote from the Kotaku piece talking about this "episodic content":
"Each campaign is treated as a fully fleshed out game, with each title ending the same way."
