So now that I finished watching every single seaason of Battlestar Galactica and have seen the new Star Trek for the fourth time, I really need a space sim.

But not just any space sim. I have basically played every single one (X3 being my favorite) and while those games let you control massive ships, you don't get to control them from the commander's point of view.

Basically, I am looking for a MS Flight Simulator-like sim where you control a large ship from the bridge on the inside, giving orders and such. Would be epic. I would be surprised if it hasn't been made yet...

the original Independence War is what youre looking for. Great game.

I has all you asked for. You command everything from the bridge, be it engine control, damage and maintanance, gunnery, etc.

I also highly recommend I-War 2...less complexity, but extreeeeeemely enjoyable.

Next to Tie Fighter and Tachyon: The Fringe, I'd say I-War 2 is my favorite space sim

Ah man. Gotta love BSG man. I felt the same way when I finished. Got over it but still got Sins of a Solar Empire to try and satisfy the want. Still havent. You can try Nexus the Jupiter Incident or Homeworld 2 or Dark Star One or Freespace 1 and 2 or lol theres some new games coming out soon. Forget the names tho.

Battlecruiser Millenium (pretty sure thats the name) is a pretty 'hard core' simulator - it has an amazingly steep learning curve though, and the controls leave much to be desired (in fact it is maligned just about everywhere for these reasons and more). Still, it is full featured and has just about anything you could think of in regards to commanding a ship.
