How many games do you own on Steam that you paid $5 or less to get? What percent of your library is that? And how did you get them?

I'm not counting things like Lost Coast, TF2 Beta, and other extras

Free:

Halflife 2-Gifted

Portal-Promotion

Dirt 2-Came with a processor

Halflife 2 Deathmatch- Nvidia Promotion/came with HL2

Alien Swarm

For $1 on Sale:

Halflife

Grand Theft Auto: Vice City

7 games! That's about 43% of my Library, and I have quite a few games that are only a few bucks higher than $5.

Well, I only buy games in packs or when they're like 50% off so... everything... I only buy big games like Black Ops and Shogun on amazon when someone is selling the steamworks code for like $30 bucks.

same lol, maybe not quite that many, but close :P

still, I rarely pay or buy release day. I'd say the average cost of a game in my library is about 25 bucks or so

I love Stream, PC gamers best friend lol

Loads. Its diffcult to say I purchased a lot of classic games again and then you have your usual sales and indie games.

  • Defense Grid - $2.00(but more than $5 after buying the DLC's)
  • Super Meat Boy - $3.75
  • Left 4 Dead 2 $5.00
  • Dogfighter - $1.50
  • Resident Evil 5 - Gifted
  • Trine - $4.00 Mass Effect - $4.99
  • Psychonauts - $2.00
  • Bioshock - $4.99
  • Audiosurf - $2.50
  • Flight Control HD $2.49
  • Alien Swarm - Free

12 Games / 74 = 16.2%

But wait! I have bundles too, so I'll use the average price:

  • Freedom Pack ($5.01 for 2 games, ~$2.50 per game),
  • THQ pack ($74.99 for 15 games, ~$5.00 per game)
  • The Oddboxx ($12.49 for 4 games,~$3.12 per game)
  • Codemasters pack ($17.50 for 5 games, ~$4.50 per game)

So that's 38 games out of 74 = 51.3%

Every weekend and midweek there's one or two titles on sale. We're mostly refering to the 'Steam sales', though, which put like 10 titles on sale every day for about 2-3 weeks. This occurs during winter holiday and I think somewhere in the summer as well. If you participate actively in such a sale one time, you will almost have every Steam game worth owning by the end of the sale.
