If the game is integrated with Steam, like being able to use the Steam friends list to join a game and message friends, stuff like that. Then I definetly buy it on Steam. If it doesn't it depends, I try to buy on Steam whenever I can, but I still buy retail.

Retail is cheaper. Look at Call of Duty on steam. The price is $60 but you can get it retail for much cheaper and still get the same benefit of using steam if you consider DRM a benefit.

That depends, some games NEEDs steam to run at all, so those are a no brainer, some can be integrated into steam, and make use of steam funktions, those I may buy on steam.

The sad (or ironic part) is that where I live Steam boughtgames are ALWAYS cheaper (with about 20 bucks), so I buy about half my games on steam, ofcourse I also support the local retailers, so I dont think I will never go away from buying games there either.

I am afterall one of those who in the end, still prefer a hardcopy (if the price is not too high)

I live in Australia, where retail games are usually overpriced, so I buy just about everything on Steam - it's about half-price (or less) for most new games. I also buy a lot of Steam games when they're on sale.

Guess what. I bought the retail and when I installed it the game went directly to Steam. I had Steam and I don't know what it would have done if I didn't.The point is if you have Steam it will godirectly to it. There is no choice in that case.

The price is the same in the beginning. A year from now it may lessen. Steam or retail. Go on the web and look.

I buy the one with the best price. Sometimes the best price is on the 48-hour madness sales on gogamer.com. Sometimes the best price is on the Steam weekend sales. So far I have over 120 games on Steam and over a thousand games for the PC.

I use steamfor those awesome deals, like the crysis 50% deal right now :P

Otherwise I will usually buy from retail for the box haha, I feel like I actually own it w/ a hardcopy.

I will always prefer boxes, besides, I don't care how awesome Steam is or how many offers they have, it's still DRM.

Eh, most boxed games lately also have DRM - usually ones that are much more invasive and inconvenient than Steam.

I know that, but at least I can sell it if I don't like it, while Steam forces me to keep the game forever.

Prefer boxes but if the game doesn't have a retail product (or one that isn't available in Australia easily), I buy them off steam. I also like the specials on steam, got killing floor and all the extra content for (slightly) less than the game alone. I also prefer to buy my indie games over steam.
