Hey guys, i just wanted to know how much speed do you guys get when you download games off steam usually?

[QUOTE="fudgeblood"]I get around 2mb/s, max I ever got was 5mb/s.Ownsin
well lucky you... my connection is 2mb/s but i always get 1mb max.... i don't know why...
My connection is actually 8mb/s, Steam servers are often busy though.I get around 1 megabyte per second, which is pretty much the max speed for my connection (8mbit connection).
It really depends on your ISP. On the right content servers, I get as much as 4.3MB/s, but sometimes it's more like 330kb/s
So guys i have a 20Mb connection speed, how do i at least get it to download 2mb? is there a way to improve the speed?OwnsinTry using different servers, only download one thing at a time, etc.
So guys i have a 20Mb connection speed, how do i at least get it to download 2mb? is there a way to improve the speed?Ownsin20Mb broadband at its very best would give you 2MB but you would literaly have to live right next to the hotpoint with know one else using it. What speed are you getting?

Well the highest im getting is 1.1 MB/S on steam, but on high servers that i download from, like Microsoft site i get like 2.2 MB/S.... so i don't know why im not getting that with Steam :(.

Are you trying to download something right now? When there's a big game release, servers usually slow down, since much like many other services, Valve has probably built their infrastructure based on the assumption that not all users will be downloading at full speed all at once.Well the highest im getting is 1.1 MB/S on steam, but on high servers that i download from, like Microsoft site i get like 2.2 MB/S.... so i don't know why im not getting that with Steam :(.

[QUOTE="-Unreal-"]so the MB is more than the Mb right? Yes. There's 8 bits in 1 byte. If you've got an internet connection rated at 20mb, you'll typically download at about 2.4MB (Megabytes) per second at best.MB = Megabyte
Mb = Megabit
8 bits in a byte.

Seeing as I'm on a wireless connection, and I don't have the best internet, I typically get about 350-400 kb/s. However, I am running a line underneath my house so I can plug into my sheezyneezy so we'll see how fast it is then :Dtheafiguy50 Kilobytes is very slow.
lol I hate all of you. I only get around 350 kb/s with my 1.5MBps connection. I wish I could get more. I dont know how to get it to go faster. Takes forever to download stuff. Sad days. GamesterpheonixYou could make it a lot faster if you get your self a 20Mb connection... :|.
[QUOTE="8BaLLCB"]You have a 75Mb connection? That's pretty high. How much does it cost monthly?I have Verizon FiOs my download speed is usually anywhere from 1 MB - 9 MB.
-Unreal-
I dunno how much is costs. They guy said we have a 20mb connection now. When i downloaded the left 4 dead demo is was like 3.3 mb per sec but tf2 patches download around 7 mb a second. I don't really know too much about it but thats how it is.
70-500 kilobytes per second usually about 200 kilobytes. Why does everyone else get such fast download speeds I have broadband internet and I can play games online without lag?
90kbs on max... yes it's my freaking location >:(
same for my internet connection. I payed for 2mbs but still only got 90kbs, charter said it was my location.
