I've had steam for a few weeks now. Wanted to buy prototype through but just wondering, is there any difference between buying the steam version as opposed ot buy the in store version. I know its a games for windows game, does the steam version have xbox360 controller support cause i read that game does, but don't want to buy it if its any different on steam

Well, whether sold through Steam or not, Prototype is still a Games for Windows game and therefore, should allow the controller. Whether the boxed copy requires steam though, I'm not sure. But other than that (and having the box itself) I would think they'd be near identical.

I don't have the PC version of the game though, so I'm not sure.

No difference. You just don't get that nice and shiny smelling box and manual.

I've got over that.

You can still read the manual of a Steam game with Adobe reader, minus the smell. ;)

Buying a retail boxed version of the game will allow you run the game without Steam running. You can add it to your Steam games list later if you want to have your friends list overlay and signal to your friends that you're playing the game.

The smells the best part, its the only reason i ever have a game case open aside from taking a disc out.

Ive got 4 year old ps2 games that still have that smell, though its not as strong as it used to be.
