For some reason Steam's forums are down right now/I can't look at it for some reason.

So, my question is, what happens if I gift a game to a friend's account if they already own the game? My friend has his profile on private so I can't see his game's library.

How can I tell if my friend already owns one of these games? If you are sending a gift directly through Steam, users who already own this game will automatically be filtered out of the potential list of recipients. You could always just ask to make sure as well. If you are positive that they do not have this game, you can send it to their email. Users who already have a subscription to a gift they've received will not be able to activate it on their existing account.

I did this before... the game will not go through.. It will sit in the Manage gift pass area and state the game has been sent out. You can easily take the game and send it to someone else then. Sadly no refunds.
