Steam impacting system performance?

Does running background hosting software like Steam impact the game performance compared to the games (most of them) which doesn't require you to run the background DRM like programs?

nope, it doesnt, steam is VERY light even on weaker systems, it takes up like 50 kb of ram on my 4 gigs of 800 mhz

STEAM takes up about 8mb for me.

On weaker systems it could have an impact, but for the most part no.

uses a bit of ram but that's it. about 8mb when minimized

Steam is great and doesnt cause any issues with my computer. Doesnt use up much to run steam.

I dont think steam does any diffrence wether its running or not. As told on weaker systems it may be noticed. :P
