Seems like STEAM is really picking up some steam, no pun intended. Every time I log in there are more games added to the library. Eidos just added six new games. So far, there's Eidos, 2K, PopCap, Activision, Majesco, Strategy First, Bioware, Funcom, Ubisoft, etc...etc...are all jumping on board, and of course let's not forget about Valve. I'm loving Steam, as you just don't have to worry about hunting down  DVD's/CD's just to have them in your drive.

Steam is probably the best online digital distribution service available. More power to them.

I just really love how when if I need to format my HDD I just load up steam, log in and bam half of my game library is downloading itself. Takes a while but it beats sitting there at the computer inserting DVDs left and right.

Digital distribution is the clear future of gaming.... Within the next few years all of the *mainstream* games will be available for online purchase (pretty much there already, but not quite)....Within 10yrs stores will stop carrying PC games all together because they can all be bought online and many probably won't even have physical discs/boxes produced. Consoles will definitely follow, but at a much slower pace for obvious reasons.

I like it. One question though; how do you change where it saves your games? Im running out of room on my internal hard drive, so want my Steam games to be downloaded to my external one in the future.

the thing with steam is that it's painless, you don't worry about anything. you download a game and bam, it's installed and everything automatically.

Compared to some game bundle like C&C the first decade steam is lightyears ahead

I prefer to have a physical device. Whole digital distribution is fishy. Besides, I like those boxes....shiny...aye.

When STEAM first came out it was extremely buggy and annoying. People seem to still have a bad taste in their mouth, but realistically the program has come a long way and is extremely good.

Steam games are expensive and have no resale value. I rather get boxed retail copies for cheaper

can you resell PC games anyway?? I don't know if I like digital distribution or not really.. having discs is nice, but having to put them in to install is annoying. Also with steam you can copy the conents of your steam folder and then to get all your games and settings back all you have to do if you reinstall Windows is install Steam and copy the contents into the new steam folder.. overwriting everything else in there. That I like.. but the download times through Steam frustrate me.. I downloaded STALKER from direct2drive today and I got it in about 2 hours. Steam seems to take much longer. If I am going to download a few games I assume I am going to start the downloaded at *PM and wake up to the almost being done.

I like Steam. :o

It's nice being able to instantly buy games without making a trip to the store or paying shipping after ordering online. I think I'm gonna buy Deus Ex sometime in the near future, I never got around to playing it before.

My preference is being able to use a disk to install them, but playing and updating without the disk, like Company of Heroes.

Most stores are phasing out PC Game Resale anyway.

I remember when Steam first came out, everyone HATED it. It was buggy and clunky, and just not convenient at all. In the time since though, it's done a complete 180. Now, I love buying games on Steam because of how painfully easy and polished the whole experience is. Good job Valve.

Yup, if online distribution is the future of PC gaming, then Steam should be the model for it.  Every developer should have their own version or join up with an already established one.  Screw publishers!  Avoid the middleman and give games directly to the gamers!  Viva la Steam!
