Steam is slow

I'm downloading TF2 as it's free now and it is really slow at downloading, like my other downloads for demos have been. Right now I am getting anything from 40kb/s to 250kb/s but it keeps changing. I have my region set as NSW (Telstra) and have tried other Australian ones but they are all the same speed, it's nearly unbearable.

Is there anyway I can get it to download faster?

You'll just have to deal with it. A ton of people are downloading from their servers right now.

everyone is probably downloading TF2 because it is free, it will be slow for awhile.

I consistently get 8.5MB, yes MB, per second on Steam. It sometimes drops into the 7s, but never below. Must be something wrong with your ISP or on one of the jumps to your ISP.

I downloaded the free week trial a few days ago, so I already have it on my hard drive. :D

I have gotten a steady 2.5 to 3.0MB so its moving pretty fast for me.

Steam downloads at a peak of 3MB for me. Averages around 1.9MB to 2.6MB.. Plenty fast for the game sizes of today... Thats full games in about an Hour! (Driving to Walmart, picking up the game, standing in line, Driving back home, and putting it in the disc tray, takes longer)

Though that being said, Game sizes will only increase in the future! So therefor in the future, a higher speed will be required (also the cap bandwidth per month, must also be extended/raised to accomodate!)
