There are so many games that were brought from the console versions, and that is the reason why so many people who has PCs complain about hardware.  All the games brought from the consoles require such high requirements to play that only about 1/3 of PC gamers can play games made in this generation.  Such games like R6 Vegas, Splinter Cell, Graw require very strong PCs, and even though if you have the best PC, there will be problems (R6 Vegas has major issues).  Companies should make more games made directly for the PC, and most of those games have been even more successful than console games, such as Half Life 2, CS:S, Fear, Company of Heroes, Warcraft, Starcraft, which are games that people have been playing for over 5 years; do Halo and Gears of War gamers play for that long? NO, because the enjoyment of the console games do not last as long.  Do people play that much in R6 Vegas, Graw, Splinter Cell? NO, they're originally created for the consoles.

Even though I agree with you, crying about it isn't going to stop them from being made.

for one thing they up the graphics for the pc thats why most of the time the pc version is argued to be the better version (what with audio, video options). also halo pc is still very active with over 155 servers with mod maps. also the main reason why i didn't buy a xbox in the first place (not talken about xbox 360) is becuase most of their games were PC ports. i really do not have a problem with ports, only if they are bad ports.
the thing that i hope they do for the new ports (i.e half life for 360) is to keep building that bridge between console and pc multi player. just to whoop their console butts

Actually Halo 2 still has a very lage community and its been nearly 3 years. And Gears of War has only been released for a few months so we cant really say. And I guarantee that FEAR and Company of Heroes will be forgotten long before Halo 2.

So because of one bad port you're never going to play console ports ever again? Gears of War, Mass Effect trilogy, Fable 2, Halo 3 etc. are all possible ports...

I don't mind console to PC ports at all, in fact i've played many console to PC ports that were excellent, like the Prince of Persia games. What i don't like are shoddy, unoptimized ports, which Ubisoft is particularly guilty of lately.Nah trust me, if the games were optimized properly they wouldn't need such high requirements, they don't look that good.

Ports are a fact of life, so get used to it. It works both ways, so everyone gets ports. Ports in the morning, ports in the day and ports at night.

Why not just keep buying them?
If we show them that there's a market for those games, then they'll be *slightly* more likely to release PC exclusives of those games.

Consoles are where the money is right now and people complaining about it wont help because all people care about is money in the end.

Kids play consoles kids parents have money plug and play easy setup are a few factors that make consoles on top.

I will always be a PC gamer at heart I just cant justify spending money on next gen consoles and games when my PC can do so much more.

edit: Console ports are an easy way for companies to squeeze a little more money out of a game with little effort put into it.

rainbow 6 vegas

oblivion

halo etc...

if we didn't have console ports, we would never have seen:

escape from butcher bay (one of the best fps games ever made)
any of the modern gta games (the pc versions are all vastly superior, but they are ports)
the modern prince of persia games (as mentioned)

there's probably many, many more - but some of the above are some of my favourite games - so i fully support console to pc ports when the game is good and when the port is done right

also, to the op: the game examples you mention are all ubisoft games, ubi is a bad example, since they usually multiformat for xbox, 360, ps2, ps3, pc, gamecube, psp, gameboy, snes, genesis, master system.... so getting out good pc games has been hard for them (not a defense, fu ubi! but an explaination) - this year may be a lot better for ubi pc games though, since they're supposedly focusing exclusively on pc and 360, with a little ps3 thrown in - splinter cell 5, as an example, is just coming to pc and 360, instead of to 25 consoles dating back to 1947
