Hi I need help with a little problem that has been bugging me for over a year now, I have 8mbit DSL connection with a router and all that, the problem is though that as soon someone is calling on the telephone the whole network goes offline for like 5-10 seconds, and I tried a number of diferent things but nothing has worked so far, and I have used many other routers with DSL connections in the past but have never encountered this type of problem before so help would be appreciated

Where do you live and who is your ISP?  Have you contacted your ISP about it?

A DSL with 8MB connection? dose it run through the phone line? thats way fast for copper if that is so.

Have you attached the little white boxes to all youre phones? you shouldhave gotton like 4 or so of them to hook up to youre phones so you can use DSL and youre phone line all at once.

Just to clarify, I believe he's talking about the DSL filters that ISP usually provides when they give you the DSL installation kit.

yes I connected everything I've got with the installation kit, and yes it goes trough the phoneline in other words a copper connection

EDIT: and oh as I've said it's not offline during the whole phone conversasions, just for 5-10 seconds once the call has been transmitted

Hmm, here is a question that no one has asked. Are you using a wireless router and have everything running wireless? If so, then a coordless phone can actually knock down the wireless part of the network due to the frequencies can be similar between the phone and router.

And if not, then you may need to call your ISP and see if you require line filters as they are required in some DSL installations as it runs over the phone line.

it's a wireless router yes, but I use cables, never managed to get the wirless connection back up again after I disabled it since I figured I had no need of it. But now I do need it for my Wii and DS :P, another issue with this crappy setup. Also port forwarding and setting the NAT to open was one big hustle, but that I managed to figure out in the end
